Importance of this program for Australians[edit]

Looking back over my life now (born 1954) I see that this program has influenced my thinking about Australia's position in the world more than any other film or book I have ever seen. It showed me that the South Pacific is my country's front yard, but for most Australians it is very much their back yard.
