Notable Faculty Members[edit]

These awards should be referenced so they don't get removed again. I was able to find references for Mrs. Young and Mr. Snyder's awards, but not for Mrs. Guild or Mrs. Michels. If someone can find references for these that would be great. Albertane 01:09, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kinnard's Retirement[edit]

I thought Kinnard retired in 2000. Are you sure it was 2002? Michael H. Cox

Yeah Kinnard retired after the 2002/03 school year, I was a freshman during his last year at A-Tech, then for the next 2 1/2 years we had Jane Oller, who was Kinnard's assistant principal. Rik 17:28, 02 Aug 2006 (UTC)

I have tried requested a semi-protect but to no avail. Not enough activity to warrant protection. 70.170.13.193 06:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Al Gore[edit]

Not that I'm all that sad to see it missing, but why was Al Gore's visit to A-Tech taken off? Michaelcox 07:45, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it was removed while removing Vandalism by someone using Popups... going to put it back. - MeStevo 17:39, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't find it in the history, so I found a reference and added his visit back into the article. Albertane 01:09, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Maverick-Logo.png[edit]

Image:Maverick-Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I added a fair use, but it was my first one, so I hope it works! Let me know. Michaelcox 04:32, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm not sure that "The logo was never copyrighted by the school." is accurate. According to A-Tech's Copyright Notice "The Advanced Technologies Academy reserves all rights to the information (including graphics) published on the Advanced Technologies Academy web site." So actually anything they put up there is copyrighted, in addition to that, anything anyone makes it copyrighted (as long as it is original) unless it is given a specific license (such as Creative Commons or GNU Free Documentation License).

School color scheme/ smell[edit]

I remember hearing that the school's hallways were painted in a color pattern specifically designed to reduce violence. Has anyone see anything written about that? Anyone with a background in psychology: Is that completely ridiculous?

Also, I don't know if it's been attempted yet but I'm going to add a section about the smell and class action lawsuit. Anyone involved or with intimate knowledge; please contribute. Vegasjon 01:20, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the color of the paint on the walls is not notable. And if they were going to paint the walls in a school to reduce violence, I don't think they would start with A-TECH.
I have not found anything on the internet about this class-action lawsuit against the school. The only time I read about it was when it was posted (un-referenced) on this article a while back). Chexmix53 (talk) 20:34, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I remember while attending A-Tech that there was talk of a class-action lawsuit, KVBC, KLAS, and KVVU came to the school when the news of the lawsuit came about I believe in 2003 or 2004, I remember one of the legal education teachers became extremely sick and a number of my classmates also became ill causing the class-action lawsuit, but I do not remember what happened with it. Rik (talk) 03:15, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the Lawsuit section once again because the reference was no longer a valid website. This should not be added again without a credible reference. Las Vegas Weekly may have done a story about it, but the story is no longer on the web, and from what I remember, it wasn't exactly the model of a well-balanced news paper article. If it is added, information needs to be added about how the lawsuit ended or what is going on with it. Chexmix53 (talk) 23:30, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Low Importance?"[edit]

I think that the "Low Importance" tag stating that this article is only of a specialized interest is not accurate. This school has receive national recognition continuously for the last 10 years. It has been used as a model of how to build other schools in different countries and has drawn visitors such as the First Lady and Vice President. I think that a Low rating on that scale is a little demeaning. How do we get this school re-rated? Chexmix53 (talk) 20:30, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't take the rating as an insult. It has very little to do with the school itself. A lot of these schools get "Drive-By" tagged and The Importances are raised Later. Per your request i will add this to our list of Requested Assessments. Again, please don't take offense, we're not all-knowing and do make mistakes. Thanks Adam McCormick (talk) 05:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also note that the original rating was made from this revision which is neither as referenced or nearly as asserting of notability as the current state. Adam McCormick (talk) 05:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's fine. As long as it's being reassessed. Thank you! Chexmix53 (talk) 20:37, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For important visitors, multiple awards, and smell controversy following a request I am re-assessing this article's importance to Mid. Needs a little more content (such as more history and curriculum information) and/or pictures for B class, would be C class but that rating does not exist yet. Semi Protected[edit]

I am requesting that this page be semi protected for an extended period of time. The people vandalizing this page are obvisously kids from the school that are messing around on Wikipedia instead of doing school work. Considering this school as a computer at every desk, and there are around 1000 computers in this school accessible to students, and this will be a problem as long as the school is open.
