i have no ideia but whoever can edit this i will be proud to say they r awsome and i need this edited ASAP!!!

This article requires updating to include more modern ideas. This article is portraying adaptive design as what is now called RESS (Responsive design with Server Side components). Adaptive Web Design refers to the Adaptive layout of a front end where there are a set number of fixed-width break points which allows the website to respond to devices with different resolutions. This is separate from a responsive layout where the website is fluid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.221.34.14 (talk) 12:02, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Needs to be Overhauled[edit]

This article is technically correct for the most part but seems a little obtuse stylistically. It should be updated to include more current information on the subject, some history, references to similar articles and perhaps even examples of code invoked through browser and device detection. --Orun Bhuiyan (talk) 21:40, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Main Difference between AWD and RWD[edit]

The key difference between adaptive and responsive design isn't the fact that AWD is server side, as you can still perform AWD client side using conditional user agent detection in JavaScript.

I would imagine the main difference is that RWD responds strictly to screen sizes and device resolutions using media queries whereas AWD uses a script to detect and target the specific device. I'm going to do some reading on this topic to make sure I have my facts straight before editing this article. Specifically I'll be referencing Aaron Gustafson's book, where the term Adaptive Web Design was initially coined.[1] --Orun Bhuiyan (talk) 21:53, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The differences between AWD and RWD are debated. There doesn't actually seem to be a consensus on how to define AWD, beyond refering to Gustafson, especially when in comparison to RWD. Much of the percieved difference seems to be arguing semantics, which many don't agree on and even more are confused about. The historical difference may be more significant, but then it becomes a question of Wikipedia:Relevance. I'm almost tempted to suggest a merge. - Soulkeeper (talk) 14:31, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Changes[edit]

There have been recent edits to this article by User:Cabrianorange. Does anyone understand what the changes are, and do they add value? It looks to me like the changes just use words without adding meaning. Have I missed something? Robert McClenon (talk) 02:04, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maintenance and rating of JavaScript articles[edit]

Concerning editing and maintaining JavaScript-related articles...

Collaboration...[edit]

If you are interested in collaborating on JavaScript articles or would like to see where you could help, stop by Wikipedia:WikiProject JavaScript and feel free to add your name to the participants list. Both editors and programmers are welcome.

Where to list JavaScript articles[edit]

We've found over 300 JavaScript-related articles so far. If you come across any others, please add them to that list.

User scripts[edit]

The WikiProject is also taking on the organization of the Wikipedia community's user script support pages. If you are interested in helping to organize information on the user scripts (or are curious about what we are up to), let us know!

If you have need for a user script that does not yet exist, or you have a cool idea for a user script or gadget, you can post it at Wikipedia:User scripts/Requests. And if you are a JavaScript programmer, that's a great place to find tasks if you are bored.

How to report JavaScript articles in need of attention[edit]

If you come across a JavaScript article desperately in need of editor attention, and it's beyond your ability to handle, you can add it to our list of JavaScript-related articles that need attention.

Rating JavaScript articles[edit]

At the top of the talk page of most every JavaScript-related article is a WikiProject JavaScript template where you can record the quality class and importance of the article. Doing so will help the community track the stage of completion and watch the highest priority articles more closely.

Starting article edit[edit]

Hello Editors! Have read the comments and talk history of the article and will be attempting an overhaul/rewrite. Please do keep an eye out and guide where needed. In the edit will try and cover: what is adaptive design, how is it different from responsive & fluid, and latest updates. Have worked as a product manager before, so have some knowledge on the topic.

Advise and guidance very welcome. Many thanks! Aamkaped (talk) 05:49, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
