{{prod}}[edit]

A {{prod}} was placed on this article with the rationale:

Kind of misleading. It is not clear who is the subject of this biography. Incoming links claim he is Afghan Noor Ahmad (ISN) 580). The article claims he is Saudi and the DIA searches for him. According to the information in the article he is not in Guantanamo. The move template suggest he is Yusif Khalil Abdallah Nur (ISN 73). Big mess that's very hard to fix. The original creator might move it to user space. If it stays like that than all incoming links that claim he is Noor Ahmad (ISN) 580) must be deleted and the article needs to make clear who is the subject of this biography

  1. IMO, the "most wanted" posters issued by the FBI, DoD, State Department, are important. IMO individuals listed on one are notable, even if the information on the poster is all that is publicly known about them.
  2. In this particular case it is true we don't know whether he was ever held in Guantanamo, as the poster claimed, as he is not listed under that name, on any of the Guantanamo documents.

I know some contributors challenge whether we should have articles on individuals when we don't have references that can supply mundane biographical details, like where they got their education, whether they were married, or had children, and what they did prior to, or after, they became notable.

Other contributors dismiss the value of looking for and inserting the mundane biographical details into articles, dismissing those details of "puffery".

Personally, I think the mundane biographical details into an article is helpful, when there are good references that can supply it. But I do not believe those details should be considered essential, as I explained in User:Geo Swan/The earliest sockpuppet to be unmasked... Geo Swan (talk) 13:58, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the {{prod}}, which I am afraid was based on misconceptions. WP:NPOV has advice on how to cover topics from a neutral point of view, when its WP:RS disagree. Geo Swan (talk) 00:12, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
