Women's Rights[edit]

Deleted statement implying Kelley stopped lecturing after the Civil War started. Earlier in the paragraph, and in the other cited works, Kelley remained an active and controversial speaker after the Civil War.Wkharrisjr (talk) 19:59, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Will go back and add better references: much better for scholars to have lines of inquiry to follow. Not good of you to keep deleting them, even if they don't at first meet your particular standards. Scholarship is about building, not destroying.Vickberg (talk) 11:12, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortuntatley, the reference you cited does not support the statement "She remained an active but controversial lecturer up to the start of the Civil War in 1861." The cited reference only states " Goodheart gives an account of fiery white abolitionist orator Abby Kelley, who "nearly lost her audience when she declared that black men and women were no different from whites under the skin." In the course of the narrative, we learn about Kelley's marriage and future...". Wkharrisjr (talk) 13:14, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page move: Abby Kelley Foster[edit]

It seems like she's referred to as Abby Kelley Foster more than Abby Kelley, so perhaps WP:COMMONNAME applies here. If the page is moved it will need to be edited though, as it currently refers to her as Kelley throughout, which could create confusion. Relinus (talk) 11:01, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
