Mutating Concept ![edit]

Hard to pin down. Racklever is trying to make it a commercial page. Someone need advise him to control his zeal. There are a lot of other than positive feedback in the media about its utility, from vaporware to useless to trash and junk. Its not a Huge government project. Is there an official site for this thing?[edit]

A $35 tablet available to Indian Students is a true turning point in accessibility of Educational Content to common Man and Woman. This can and will be leveraged to improve lifes. Article has no intro[edit]

It was a poorly written Lysenkoist trash, almost wholly unsourced, written by some disgruntled reactionary Indian socialist whose pissed that computers took away his job or whatever. Thanks for fixing it. On another note, the claim made in the "history" section that BBC and CNN gave it a "thumbs down" is not found in the cited sources. Both BBC and CNN gave it a detailed critique, listing the positive and negative aspects. I did not see any mention of "thumbs down", or any such equivalent. Seems to me to be a typical sort of statement made by an illiterate Indian wiki-socialist from some black hole in Calcutta, who is frustrated that his party lost to a free-market-advocating one, so I tagged it. The Han chauvinist editor Ne0Freedom keeps adding that the device is made in China, citing these references as proof of this assertion [2],[3]. Shakshat/Aakash has always been the pet project of Indian Ministry of Education (HRD), and datawind wants to ride it's popularity with a "made in china" version.

Initially the news said "Made in China", which then changed to "Made in Taiwan", and now it's "made by Taiwanese comapny". Here is the exact qoute I was refering to in the above article: "Taiwanese firms may set up manufacturing plants here to assemble the tablets". I suspect that the Ubislate7 is NOT the "Aakash2" announced by Datawind. Ubislate7 does not seem to have the announced 1GB Ram, or the camera that was in the Aakash2 announcement. To further analyze the situation, look at what Datawind didn't say. Datawind websites have clearly refrained from calling the Ubislate7 as Aakash2 !!! I have a hunch that the actual Aakash2 would be one of the tablets planned for the future and could also get the student discount just like the original Aakash.--Ne0Freedom 16:53, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I saw that trick. I was right, DataWind IS trying to sell it's foreign made tablet on the popularity of the Shakshat/Aakash project, by creating confusion between the two. BIOS inside ROM[edit]

In desktop Desktop & Laptop computers the ROM is exclusively for storing the BIOS. But in Android Tablets & Smartphones the Android Operating System and all installed Applications are stored on the ROM. For example, CyanogenMod ROM image is a popular alternative Android Firmware. UbiSlate7+ was supposed to have a front facing camera for video conferencing, but I haven't seen any specifications or photo/video of this camera, including in the Datawind website.
