Is this channel primarily in Tagalog or English? matturn 13:22, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • The channel broadcasts in English and Tagalog (and in many cases Taglish), however English is more predominant. Tagalog is more predominant however in the morning and eventually shifts into English by the afternoon and evening hours. --Akira123323 12:57, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ANC.jpg[edit]

Image:ANC.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 17:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Questions about their broadcasts...[edit]

I just have some questions about their broadcasts... I want viewers outside the Philippines to answer these:

1. Is CNBC Cash Flow being shown outside the Philippines? 2. Do ANC show commercials from the TFC Channels?

Thanks for answering, and if you can... Add it to the article.

ABS-CBN News ChannelANC (TV channel) – Per WP:COMMONNAME. Sources commonly call the channel "ANC" and not by the long name "ABS-CBN News Channel". RMXY (talkcontribs) 13:35, 30 January 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. BilledMammal (talk) 01:15, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support per nom. Not many sources mention ANC by its full name; certainly it doesn't outnumber those that don't. Chlod (say hi!) 17:26, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm inclined to oppose, but let's see where the discussion goes. Their ident literally says "You're watching ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel". Their website still uses this on the copyright footer. It's not like the name has totally gone away. --Sky Harbor (talk) 10:21, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
CNN's website also uses "Cable News Network" on the copyright footer yet they're named as CNN on their Wikipedia page so I don't think that claim holds any water, unfortunately. Although you do make a very good point about their ident. ZaneIsHere (talk) 07:40, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would lean oppose based on my limited experience, but more importantly, I feel that RapMonstaXY needs to provide significant and numberous examples of sources using ANC versus the current name to demonstrate the need to move. The burden is on the person wishing to make the change, not on everyone else to go dig up the sources. Dennis Brown 23:48, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose; personally, I'd agree for the acronym be made as the article title if the acronym itself becomes so predominant, no one knows what it originally meant. Examples include Ofcom and UNESCO, and I'd probably agree CNN approaches that, but not ANC. If people still know what the acronym actually means, such as COMELEC for "Commission on Elections", I'd keep the longer name. There's also a better reason to keep it at the current name as the news channel is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "ANC;" see also WP:NCACRO. Howard the Duck (talk) 19:42, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:NATURAL, which seems to be how we usually treat TV channel names. See The Sports Network, American Broadcasting Company, etc... 162 etc. (talk) 17:10, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
