Ordinals[edit]

Currently, our articles on, f'rinstance, the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division use the abbreviation "3rd" for "third". However, some of the official US Army sites, e.g. [1], uses "3d" for "third" (and, incidentaly, "2d" for "second"). Others use the "2nd" and "3rd" format. Which is correct? mistake in "combat chronicle"[edit]

It says that Halle was taken on April 6th, with a link to Halle in Westfalia. I think there is something flawed here. There are two towns named Halle in Germany, one is this one in Westfalia, which was a small town of 4000 inhabitants at that time, not at all worthy to be mentioned here (a bunch of bigger cities are close to it, e.g. Bielefeld), also it was already occupied on April 2nd, it lies on the western side of the Teutoburg Forest (which the 83rd had crossed in full width until the 4th). So even with correct date, it also should have been mentioned before the Weser crossing at Bodenwerder (to stay in proper order of events). The other Halle is on the Saale river, further in the east, near Leipzig, and a much bigger city (about a quarter of a million at that time). It however surrendered only on April 17th, and it is also some 50 kilometers south of Barby (where the 83rd reached the Elbe river), so I'm not sure whether that was still the area of operation of the 83rd, or rather that of another unit further south (the 83rd had to establish their bridgehead across the Elbe around that time, so it seems unlikely they did both simultaneously). For now, I'll just delete the whole small sentence without replacement, but maybe whoever wrote that had something else in mind, feel free to re-add a corrected version.--91.41.43.187 (talk) 01:51, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To add: this list of command posts: https://history.army.mil/documents/ETO-OB/83ID-ETO.htm suggests that they crossed the Teutoburg Forest some 50 km southeast of Halle, so it seems they did not touch either of both Halles.--91.41.43.187 (talk) 02:02, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

83rd USARRTC[edit]

It is mentioned in the infobox that the division was reactivated in 2014, but there should be a text and some info about the 83rd U.S. Army Reserve Readiness Training Center at Ft. Knox, KY (I'm not sure that qualifies as a division).--91.41.43.187 (talk) 02:22, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
