"SK" - meaning[edit]

SK stands for "Schnelladekanone" (quick loading gun), as far as I know.78.34.101.37 (talk) 14:46, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. I also found a reference for that in the original German version of the Book "Battleships and Battle Cruisers 1905 to 1970" from Siegfried Breyer. ("Schlachtschiffe und Schlachtkreuzer 1905 - 1970" K. SK - Prior to 1920, this was for deck guns and meant Schnelladekanone or Schnellfeurkanone. "Fast Firing Cannon," equivalent to QF or RF. After that date, the meaning was changed to Schiffskanone or "Ship Cannon." Usually followed by the year in which it was designed. For example, a gun with the designation SK C/34 would mean that the weapon was a naval cannon designed in 1934. This designation system was used for most guns designed between 1920 and 1940.

Questionable statistics[edit]

The infobox lists the traverse and min/max elevation for the gun. Inexact reference to rate of fire[edit]

Rate of fire under battle conditions was not 1 round/minute/gun. Initial shots were done to assess range to the enemy and to warm up the guns. Rapid fire at maximum was ordered after salvo 4 against the Hood. Thus only salvos 5 (8 shots)and 6 (8 shots) were fired at maximum rate of fire.
