Why called "The Elgins?" Wachholder 16:44, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So named for Elgin County in which St. Thomas, its original armoury, is located. According to Regiments and Corps of the Canadian Army, it was first raised as the "25th 'Elgin Battalion of Infantry'" on 14 September 1866. Elgin County was named for Lord Elgin, the governor general during the 1840s. Ab.chaplin (talk) 14:28, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
