The picture of the P-36s of the 27th Pursuit Squadron is visually striking! That said, the airbase in the background of this shot is definitely not Wright Field OH, but Langley VA. In addition, there are similar pictures on the internet which attribute the paint scheme on these Hawks to "war games special camouflage". Sjttaylor (talk) 00:16, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, trying to do too much at same time. As stated in my previous memo, the background of the P-36 picture is not Wright Field. Nor is it Langley. It is Selfridge Field in Michigan. The cover of the book Images of Aviation: Selfridge Field, published by Arcadia Publishing. Shows the same hangars that you see in the background of the picture in this article. I can also share some additional, higher-res pics which show the hangars in more detail. Sorry for any confusion! Sjttaylor (talk) 00:23, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
