Parties included in the opinion polls section[edit]

La lopi, Number 57, Davide King, Nbiver, Gbuvn, Jevansen, Obi2canibe.

Which parties should be included in the opinion polls section?

It seems excessive to me to include parties of which: have no Wikipedia page (perhaps because they fail to be deemed notable enough), haven't polled at even 1% in a single poll, do not appear in any of the seat projections, and neither would any win a single seat given any of the polling numbers they have given. Therefore, I think it may be best to remove the "Democracy (Luxembourg)/(Dem.)" party and "The Conservatives (DK)". "Volt" also falls foul of the aforementioned criteria, with the exception of having a Wikipedia page. Also, like the previously two mentioned parties Volt appears to have no elected representation in Luxembourg at any level (national, local, EU level etc.). So, I think it would also be justifiable to remove them as well.

It would probably be worth someone creating a Wikipedia page for "Fokus/Focus". I myself don't know anything about them, nor am I fluent in any of Luxembourg's languages, so it would probably be easier for another editor here to find and use the sources needed to create this page. So if someone could do this, that would be great.

Reweighted votes[edit]

Since @Number 57 have reverted my edit on this, I wish to start a discussion on it. I think this article (and for that matter other Luxembourgish articles) should use the weighted voter counts when displaying party support. Not doing so is misleading to a reader, because it presents some parties as larger than others (e.g. LSAP being larger than DP), not because it had more voters supporting it, but just because relatively more of that party's voters were from constituencies with more seats, and thus more votes. I think using the weighted votes is misleading to the reader, as they would be expecting to see the actual votes cast. It's not like it's vastly different – no party's weighted vote share is more than 1% different to its actual vote share. Perhaps the answer is to add some text in the results section stating that the election authority also publishes a "weighted votes" figure taking into account number of candidates, and what the differences were with the actual votes. I would have no problem showing both vote counts. That said I would prefer if at least the order of the parties in both the table and the infobox was in the order of the weigted votes. I.e. DP ranking above LSAP. Gust Justice (talk) 15:22, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the total! In Luxembourg the preliminary results are called "officieux" (unofficial) which is a rather odd wording as in the rest of the french speaking world it refer to results by a non official source. Infobox[edit]

Regarding the repeated changes of the infobox (probably thanks to Gust Justice highlighting this article on the Twitter storm yesterday), the repeated changes are making it out of sync with the other Luxembourg articles and was just a mess.
