Fortenberry's resignation[edit]

Did Fortenberry actually already resign, or it is just him saying that he'll resign? In the former case, all well. In latter case, this probably shouldn't have been moved to mainspace just yet. He did indeed not resign yet, but I do not agree that that means this should not be in mainspace. He's announced the date of his resignation, it is pretty clearly going to happen. We can apply common sense here. Elli (talk | contribs) 00:26, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No reference, as of yet, confirms that there'd be a special election. Vacancies happening at this time of year may very well remain vacant for the rest of the term. For example, see North Carolina's 11th congressional district vacancy that happened on March 30th 2020 with Mark Meadows's resignation, numerically a day before Fortenberry's scheduled resignation. Plus, nothing is stopping Fortenberry to hang on for just a few more days. Per the relevant Nebraska state laws, there will be a special election. Also there is some sourcing mentioning this: "Fortenberry to resign from Congress, setting the stage for special election". Elli (talk | contribs) 01:04, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Primary or convention[edit]

Reading the language in this news article: Each political party gets to pick a nominee who will run.. with only info on the scheduling of the general election, it's probably fair to assume that the nominees will be picked by members of the political parties through a convention, not primary voters. —twotwofourtysix^{(My talk page and contributions)} 03:11, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the Democratic nominee has now been confirmed to have been selected by the party's executive committee, instead of the convention, and the Republicans apparently will also nominate is candidate with the same way, according to this news article, should the headings be changed now? —twotwofourtysix^{(My talk page and contributions)} 11:53, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
