The information given is not exactly proper or according to the IPL and teams data 106.215.14.127 (talk) 08:40, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Hemantha (talk) 11:45, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ahmedabad Tigers[edit]

Hi. A page for the Ahmedabad Tigers has been started. Has this team's details been announced/confirmed yet? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:26, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No. That's a hoax Clog Wolf Howl 07:46, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Though so. Thanks Clogs! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:32, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. The protection should stop vandalism for a while. Clog Wolf Howl 10:58, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinator and Vice-Coordinator for this Wiki Project IPL[edit]

We need a Coordinator and Vice-Coordinator for this Wiki WP:IPL. Anyone interested please put your name up here. Will wait for the reply from interested co-editors. It's nothing special responsibility. Just looking after the various IPL related pages, Updating articles and address any disputes that may arise in pages related to IPL (Mr.Mani Raj Paul - talk 13:34, 10 February 2022 (UTC))[reply]

  • You could always get rid of the IPL project because all it seems to do is make up its own standards, and promote the adding of fandom content. IPL is cricket, so all IPL articles should follow the same style as all other cricket articles, which includes not adding random flag colours, random MOS violating colours to headers, and adding loads of fandom junk to articles. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:19, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Let them do that. There are a lot of WikiProjects like that e.g., WP:GEORGIATECH. But one thing I am telling you, they are likely to put Act of possession on IPL Domain.Sneha04💬 14:59, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Points table[edit]

Hi @Clog Wolf:, Recently, I know that template regarding points table had created twice {{2022 Indian Premier League Points table}} and {{2022 Indian Premier League points table}} (Created By you). I confused about which template title is correct. I think started with capital letter for Points is correct. Fade258 (talk) 15:25, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That template was not created by me but by another user. Clog Wolf Howl 15:33, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for my mistake. Fade258 (talk) 15:38, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Map Change[edit]

Change the map style to the style in 2021 ipl — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.204.138.4 (talk) 11:34, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Before changing the style of map. Would you please provide the reason behind changing it? Fade258 (talk) 16:50, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to speak on behalf of the IP, but the current map looks terrible. I couldn't be sure at first glance it was actually India! Kinda looks like the North West coast of the US in the Seattle area, but maybe that's just me. The city/town names are covered up with the blue tags, and there's no scale for context either. But apart from that, it's great! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:04, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
100% agree. This terrible map was added by Chinakpradhan because used in pandemic era i league matches so implemented here too, basically WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I have changed it back to the map of India. Clog Wolf Howl 16:16, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Clog Wolf, Fade258, and Lugnuts: guys guys if you dont understand used in pandemic era i league matches so implemented here too here's it 2020–21 I-League#Stadiums and locations 2021–22 I-League#Stadiums and locations. the map i added is ideal for smaller scale maps. if still you dont like the map then you can add double maps like i league and isl seasons. my main motive is to show all the stadiums clearly. hope you all like my idea. Chinakpradhan (talk) 16:29, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks much better with the full map - thanks Clogs. "hope you all like my idea" - Nope, sorry. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:15, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then please explain Lugnuts what is a map needed to signify more in venues section cities or stadiums? Chinakpradhan (talk) 18:54, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've already detailed what I think is wrong with that map in my first reply in this section. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:57, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For the things you need I would say read my edit summaries there I told about zooming zoom out shows india zoom in shows precise town/names. 1st issue done users are provided with enlarge option in top right corner. 2nd issue of scale it is written below in the enlarged map. Scale increases and decreases like a normal maps app as you alter the zoom. Users will get all featured just need to go in enlarged view Lugnuts. Chinakpradhan (talk) 19:32, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So you need to do all that extra work to make it readable. It's a solution to a problem that should never exist. Sorry, I'm not going to change my mind. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:36, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK then leave Chinakpradhan (talk) 02:24, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DY Patil Stadium[edit]

What location should we use for DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai or Navi Mumbai? ESPNcricinfo lists it in Mumbai, India, while FIFA states it is "located on the outskirts of Mumbai". Furthermore, AFC: Navi Mumbai, Times of India: Navi Mumbai. Thoughts? Clog Wolf Howl 11:21, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Most of the sources says its Navi Mumbai. Fade258 (talk) 15:21, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff Games[edit]

Yes I know that Playoff Fixtures/Schedule are not announced But put TBA for all games except final which is in 29th May Please add a bracket too 117.193.155.1 (talk) 14:35, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, way too soon, and adding TBA is completely pointless. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:40, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you. Sneha04💬 13:51, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I too agree with you both Joseph and Sneha as it is completely unnecessary at the moment. Fade258 (talk) 14:13, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics tables already?![edit]

Teams have played at most 1 game, we don't need a stats table for the current top run scorers or wicket takers yet. We should wait until a sensible number of games have been played e.g. end of group stage, or everyone has played a minimum of 5 matches. Absolutely ridiculous stats violation/fandom to add it after teams have played one match. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:40, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you Joseph. Fade258 (talk) 13:51, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you too. Wikipedia is not a ticker. Sneha04 (talk) 13:54, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Team identification flags[edit]

Hi @SharadSHRD7:, I appreciated your edits through out the Wikipedia but Is it necessary to mention those flags which you have recently added which looks quite odd. Fade258 (talk) 05:55, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Fade258:, I mentioned it in the edit summary. National/team flags are added before the international teams in every matches. I followed the same procedure here. The flag helps to identify the respective teams quickly. If you found this useful, please support to keep this template in discussion page as it's put under consensus for deleteion now. SharadSHRD7 (talk) 06:13, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SharadSHRD7: Sorry but you cannot tell others to support your idea, as it falls under WP:CAN. A previous similar template by you were deleted after discussion and you have created such template again. Human (talk) 06:34, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human: Don't show your personal hatred here. Notice my words above where I asked "IF you found this useful, please support". I didn't compel anyone to support the template. SharadSHRD7 (talk) 06:38, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SharadSHRD7: Please maintain WP:CIVIL while talking to other editors. Human (talk) 06:39, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human:, you have to follow WP:CIVIL first, because you keep fighting indirectly with a personal hatred towards me. SharadSHRD7 (talk) 06:43, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SharadSHRD7: There are certain things I hate the most. And one of them us false accusation. I never personally attacked you. If you have any such evidence, please present it. Human (talk) 06:47, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human: Don't pretend to be an innocent. Because of your persistent arguments and word fights, I suffered from depression and decided to retire from Wikipedia a year ago. Now you continues your fighting here also. Here's the evidence you asked Talk:ICC Men's Test Team Rankings#ICC Men's Test Team Rankings, there you mocked me using the bad words 'F' and 'BS'. Truth cannot be hidden. SharadSHRD7 (talk) 07:02, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SharadSHRD7: What are you even talking about? Thats not even my comment. Human (talk) 07:09, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human:, it's your signed comment at Talk:ICC Men's Test Team Rankings. So please stop acting and accept what you've said. Check your edit history here [[1]] in which you mocked me using 'F' word.SharadSHRD7 (talk) 07:16, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's Spike 'em.... Spike 'em, dude finish whatever you started with this guy! I'm not in this. Human (talk) 07:18, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's Spike 'em, but I suspect whether @A Simple Human: you both are same person with different ids. Or else, you both seems being friends, acting together to fight and argue with me everytime. What I did wrong? I just added the flag templates in good faith, for quick identification of IPL teams. I tried to introduce a similar concept in 2020 Indian Premier League but @A Simple Human: you opposed me there also Talk:2020 Indian Premier League#Regarding Colour Box. It's personally stressful for me. I can't take it anymore. I'm going to retire permanently from Wikipedia. Thank you. SharadSHRD7 (talk) 07:22, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SharadSHRD7: Yes I opposed you there just like everyone else on the discussion because obviously noone could agree with yoyr views. You were told multiple times why they shouldn't be added and yet you failed to follow instruction and stick to your arguments. There's no use beating a dead horse. Whatever you do next, good luck with that. Human (talk) 07:42, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what this is about, but it seems you are an extremely disruptive editor who does not listen to other people. Not that I need to declare this, but I have absolutely no connection to any other editor. I've given up editing IPL articles, but I will say that like flag icons should not be used for domestic teams, and have been deleted after discussions in the past. Spike 'em (talk) 07:46, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case it isn't entirely clear, this is in response to SharadSHRD7's claims that Human and I are sock / meat puppets. Spike 'em (talk) 09:01, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SharadSHRD7 Please don't take it too much as I respect you or all the Wikipedia user in equal way. In this case the flags you had added is quite odd because if we look that, in my first glance my eyes directly go to the colour of flags rather then the content. So, I ask you whether it is fine or not where as I am not trying to bothering you. Fade258 (talk) 07:48, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just found out that user got away from a previous ANI case filed against him by stating retired in his user page. Then he came back this year. And now he added the retired tag to his user page again. Human (talk) 08:02, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@User:A Simple Human, I request you to not open this matter again. I think I done mistake by opening this topics of flags. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 08:13, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You've not done anything wrong: you have expressed a perfectly valid (and seemingly prevailing) view that the team "flags" are not appropriate for this article. This has not yet descended into an edit war, which is good, but the accusations of sock-puppetry / tag-teaming are baseless. If edits go against previous consensus, then it is quite likely that there will be more than one editor who will vocally disapprove of them. I don't see a need for ANI yet, but if these flag templates are constantly recreated in breach of the deletion discussions then maybe it could be looked into more. Spike 'em (talk) 11:39, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, the templates for these flags/team colours are being discussed at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 March 30#IPL Flags, would be good for user to add their input there if you like. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:10, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Commentary panel[edit]

Commentary panel were added here. I don't see how the commentators are relevant to the scope of this article, as the commentators have no impact on the outcome of the tournament, and so it seems like irrelevant content to me. Especially as it was unsourced, but I don't think it's directly relevant even if sourced. The fact the commentary panel is listed on 2022 Pakistan Super League is not a reason to add it here, I would argue it's a reason to remove it from there instead (for exactly the same reasoning). Honestly, these IPL and PSL pages get way too much fandom, and need to be heavily monitored to comply with the rest of the cricket articles on Wikipedia. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:07, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Joseph, Yes, I agree with you what you have stated above as it is completely unnecessary to add commentary panel. Fade258 (talk) 10:13, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just because it's something that's posted somewhere online, doesn't mean it has to be included here. For example, the PCB are really good at naming the commentary teams for international tours, such as this. But it doesn't need including on WP, despite the excellent bleak humour from Rob Key. Aman Khan[edit]

@Lugnuts: CI seems to have the wrong Aman Khan/Aman Hakim Khan listed or are they duplicates? Their bowling style looks different. One seems to be from Mumbai and another from Karnataka. This profile from KKR shows the bowling style from the one in CI and DOB from Aman Hakim Khan. Human (talk) 13:50, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Was just looking at this - I think they (CI) have got the two profiles mixed up. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:54, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human Looks like CI have corrected their profile, and have even just published this about him. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:05, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The generic Tata IPL logo is a non-free logo that fails acceptable fair use policy. Therefore, it will not be accepted on this article- it has been deleted 3 times on English Wikipedia for failing fair use criteria, and has also now been uploaded to Commons, where it will also soon be deleted. Anyone who uploads this logo again is being deliberately disruptive, and should be immediately reverted. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:01, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Narendra Modi Stadium-Picture[edit]

Pls change the picture from old Motera to new Motera 49.204.137.29 (talk) 06:05, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do we have a decent image of the new stadium? On Commons, I only see File:President Trump and the First Lady in India (49583482836).jpg, which has a massive Trump banner in it. If someone who's been to the new stadium could upload a photo of the new stadium, that would be good. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:14, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Elimination of teams[edit]

Mi have been eliminated from the tournament I think we should have symbols in table (E) Eliminated fro the tournament (X) Qualified to playoff, still finish in top 2 (Y) Cannot finish in top 2 but still qualify for playoff (S) Qualified for playoff, cannot finish in top 2 (P) Has not Qualified for playoff, but can still finish in top 2 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.205.87.205 (talk) 05:32, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I had added "(E)" for Mumbai along with a note in the match summary, but both were removed for some reasons. Clog Wolf Howl 08:53, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Is there any references that states Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from the tournament? Fade258 (talk) 09:03, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there are plenty, one of which is referenced in the article. Clog Wolf Howl 10:25, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I think I don't saw that sources. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 10:54, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of eliminations, what were the circumstances behind CSK being knocked out? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:15, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lack of sufficient points. If CSK win the two remaining matches then CSK only maintain 12 points which is not sufficient to qualify for the playoffs. Fade258 (talk) 08:20, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, what I meant was which result eliminated them? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:57, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries about that. Match no.59 Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings played on 12 May 2022. Fade258 (talk) 09:11, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Misinformation regarding the venues[edit]

A person has edited the venues under the points table section and has added that Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium Hosted the playoffs and removed Ahmedabad and Kolkata from the map. I urge someone to rectify it as soon as possible. Randomguy781 (talk) 16:22, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
