RCF[edit]

The recent edit replacing "Russian Curling Federation" with "RCF" throughout the article seems odd. The acronym is meaningless to any reader who didn't see the article before, and is never explained in the article. At least hovering over the links reveals it's actually Russia, but that still doesn't explain what the acronym means (and in any case, I don't think we want our readers to figure things out that way).

Also, what WADA/WCF want the team to be called doesn't really bind Wikipedia in any way; we should first and foremost be presenting information in a way that's meaningful to the readers.

Suggest it either be changed back to the way it was, or at least some kind of explanatory sentence be added after the one that currently states Russia must compete neutrally. 67.11.86.2 (talk) 22:12, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was just going to ask what the hell this was all about. It doesn't make sense that just one curling federation is represented this way, unless this has something to do with the Russian doping bans, but I didn't hear of this affecting anything with the World Curling Federation. Well here is the link, so that's why. The more you know I guess! WCF link on RCF. Krazytea(talk) 03:34, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I thought of bringing it up here first, but I decided to be bold. According to Devin Heroux, the WCF and WADA want the media to refer to the team as "RCF" only, as that's what the team is competing as, not the "Russian Curling Federation". -- Earl Andrew - talk 03:53, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the whole situation is a bit bizarre... seems that they were allowed to compete as "Russian Curling Federation" initially, then midway through the tournament WADA decided that that was too permissive and asked the WCF to just use "RCF" for the team name (note that the archive version of the link Krazytea posted above (from just 2 days ago) has it listed as "Russian Curling Federation"). This could've been avoided if they made it "Team Glukhov" or something similarly not mentioning Russia from the start, but I guess they didn't want to completely rename the team midway through, so went with this weirdness instead. Anyway, I'm good with the article as it is now that the explanatory note has been added, thanks all. 67.11.86.2 (talk) 06:08, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Updated results[edit]

Should today's Curling Canada's statement on the fourth positive test involving a playoff team be considered more accurate than the earlier reporting from Sportsnet? The text in the article is currently contradictory, due to the contradictions in the sources. isaacl (talk) 15:11, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We'll soon find out as we'll quickly deduce who that player who can't play is. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:33, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
