Intro text[edit]

Can I get a second opinion on the edit war I'm having with the anonymous IP about the intro? As I explained in one of my reverts, progress on the season is usually updated when a team is eliminated from playoff contention and/or fails to improve on their record from the previous season, but not before either or both have occurred.DragonFury (talk) 15:27, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll side with you on this. Unless there's some particular reason why the team's current standings are interesting, such as a franchise worst start or if it means a team can no longer improve in the previous season, there's no point in including a current standing in the lede. Some season pages include the standing if it's been a long time since th team last had a similar start, like Texans going 0–4 for the first time since '08. That lede also includes the team failing to reach 10 wins for the first time since '17, which I personally don't feel is a big enough time period that it needs being included. Last time Jags went 1–8 was every seasong between 2012 and 2014, I guess maybe that could be worked in there instead of just stating their current record?
