2020 AFC Solidarity Cup Schedule[edit]

Wonder if it's still in time if the 2023 Asian Cup qualification play-off rounds are still not over yet? St3095 (talk) 05:09, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please move 2020 AFC Solidarity Cup back to December! St3095 (talk) 09:36, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reschedule[edit]

Can the 2020 AFC Solidarity Cup moved to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic? St3095 (?) 06:19, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@St3095: It all depends on when the qualifying for the FIFA-AFC second-round finishes. Currently, there are 4 match weeks remaining so as soon as they get completed, the Solidarity Cup may get rescheduled or it may not get rescheduled.

Teams Who Qualified[edit]

@192.157.116.135: Can you please provide a reason of why you think that the two teams qualified for the tournament. My reasoning here is that the tournament was cancelled way before the qualification format was changed in the AFC play offs. Since the format was changed, it does not mean that these two teams qualified for this tournament. Please, lets try to have a discussion, edit warring isn't helping any of us.--Anbans 585 (talk) 10:44, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @WildFlyingSport: lets have a discussion regarding why you think the above mentioned changes should be kept. Please ping me when you do reply. --Anbans 585 (talk) 13:52, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Mwiqdoh, Qby, Jkudlick, Hariboneagle927, Tomrtn, and Matilda Maniac:, here is a small discussion regarding who qualified for the tournament. I think that the teams which were knocked out in the playoff round should not be displayed as qualified for the tournament since the tournament was cancelled way before the playoffs were held. Also, that time around the AFC said that four teams would qualify for the tournament on the basis of getting knocked out of the playoffs, but changed it later due to delays caused due to COVID.

Thus, the edit I made stated that the two teams knocked out in the playoffs have not qualified for the tournament on the virtue of the tournament being already cancelled two years ago. You can check my edit to see the references etc I have provided. What do you think, should the teams be considered as having qualified for the tournament or having not qualified for the tournament?

Also, do you think that instead of this discussion we should instead delete this page since the page itself has little to no relevance and all the content related to it can easily be added into the lead section of the next iteration of this tournament.--Anbans 585 (talk) 18:41, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Anbans 585: I think that Chinese Taipei and Guam should be included because it'll give the reader an idea on who would've participated if the tournament wasn't cancelled in the first place, regardless on whether they qualified before the cancellation or not. Also, the play-off round was reduced to four teams not because of COVID-19, but because both Qatar and China qualified for the final tournament. Another thing to suggest is that we should keep this page because it will still give the readers information on what would have happened in the 2020 tournament. A brief description in the 2024 article explaining that the 2020 tournament got cancelled is okay, but adding all the content currently present onto the 2024 article would be too much and it would be unnecessary for the reader if he/she is only interested in reading about the 2024 tournament. I hope you like my suggestions on these three issues, so we can resolve this as soon as possible.--WildFlyingSport (talk) 04:03, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Anbans 585: I apologize for reverting your edits multiple times. I was only trying to make the article better for everyone, as I had self-evaluated my original edit on 28 December 2021 as a well thought edit, which I honestly still think it is. However, I do agree with what @WildFlyingSport: recently just mentioned in the above paragraph, as @WildFlyingSport: has made some wonderful suggestions. Although Chinese Taipei and Guam didn't actually qualify, we should still include them to let readers know who would've participated in the tournament, had it not been cancelled in the first place. @WildFlyingSport: has also made good suggestions on the other two things that were mentioned in the above paragraph, as I agree with all three of @WildFlyingSport:'s suggestions. I hope we can resolve this issue as soon as possible.--192.157.116.135 (talk) 05:07, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't list them under qualified. There most likely is no source to be found saying they qualified. One cannot qualify to a tourney, once the tourney has been cancelled. -Koppapa (talk) 09:59, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
