I Am the Night

We put The Alienist's January debut in "Programs debuting in 2018" but has turned out to be the first in a series of limited series. Shall we follow suit put its follow-up in "Programs debuting in 2019" or put it in miniseries?--Harmony944 (talk, Twitter) 21:39, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Orphaned references in 2019 in American television

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 2019 in American television's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "SeriesOrder":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:46, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Crunchyroll

Today, the anime streaming site announced its first original series, High Guardian Spice. Do we treat it like Netflix and Hulu as a television series or like regular YouTube as a webseries?--Sarcathmo17 (talk) 22:03, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

Twilight Zone

Should it go in programs debuting or programs returning?--Sarcathmo17 (talk) 18:09, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Specify tag

I don’t think the use is appropriate because we can’t specify unless the source specifies for us. Until they provide premiere dates, we can’t put them--Fradio71 (talk) 05:38, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

It's just a reminder that exact dates need to be added when they become available. TomCat4680 (talk) 06:48, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

Series finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

'Joshua Raymond Hahn: Shouldn't the ninth season of MLP: FiM will come to an end next year? 2600:1003:B465:A9DE:AC6B:E8F1:96D7:A145 (talk) 11:15, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Joshua Raymond Hahn

You have no source. This has been a persistent unsourced rumor added to the article that will be continuing to be removed until we get word from Hasbro--Fradio71 (talk) 02:28, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Dating #NoFilter

I noticed a Deadline article announcing that E! is premiering this series in January. How would someone format the title for an internal link?--Fradio71 (talk) 04:55, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

I linked it as Dating NoFilter since there can't be a hashtag in an article's title due to technical restrictions. See WP:NCHASHTAG for an explanation. TomCat4680 (talk) 04:50, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
I’m aware that the hashtag sign in URLs are used for section specification/direction, which is why I came here to ask--Fradio71 (talk) 05:21, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

When to start 2020?

News broke today that the History series "Vikings" is ending after its sixth season, which is expected to conclude in 2020 ([1]). It's also known that Blue's Clues, Animaniacs, and Rugrats are all reported to be returning by reboot or revival in that year. I saw that this article started construction in early April of last year. Should we start on 2020 now or wait until we get some debuts too?--Fradio71 (talk) 17:21, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Since it's reliably sourced, I'd say start it. TomCat4680 (talk) 02:08, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Surviving R. Kelly

Considering the buzz around it, I was ready to put Surviving R. Kelly in the Miniseries section only to find that it doesn’t have an article, with this review as its source. I haven’t been watching it. How should I go about adding it?--Fradio71 (talk) 07:29, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

I'd say put it in the miniseries section. TomCat4680 (talk) 07:39, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
Redlink it to await the inevitable article creation?--Fradio71 (talk) 07:40, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
Sounds fine. or you could create the article yourself. TomCat4680 (talk) 07:51, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
As I said I haven’t been watching it, so I don’t feel qualified to make the article--Fradio71 (talk) 07:59, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
I've never watched most of the shows/channels of the TV articles I've created either. I just go off of what the sources say. TomCat4680 (talk) 08:06, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
Looks like someone else made it anyway. TomCat4680 (talk) 10:35, 6 January 2019 (UTC)

The Punisher

Considering the streaming climate between Disney and Netflix having already claimed Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist (and The Defenders), would it be wise to invisibly list The Punisher as a Program ending and use any of the articles announcing the second season premiere date as a source? Of course, when the other shoe drops, the item would be unhidden and the source would be replaced with the cancellation article. If I’m being too presumptive I have no issue backing down--Fradio71 (talk) 00:19, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Sounds fine.TomCat4680 (talk) 00:44, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Removal of duplicate references

@Fradio71: I removed the older references for entries which had more than one reference, leaving only the newest reference. Otherwise the article will get unnecessarily large, and removing things is easier now than when the article is much larger. Onetwothreeip (talk) 04:21, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

I just did the same. One entry had seven sources from the same day! Talk about citation overkill! TomCat4680 (talk) 03:52, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

Source in the body or as its own column?

This is more a general question for the entire format, but I’ve seen it both ways in Notable events. Source column the last two years, plus 2020 I guess with that Super Bowl item, but 2017 (the oldest I’ve checked lately) has it incorporated into the body should we get a little consistency about this?--Fradio71 (talk) 03:53, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

I think it's better to have their own column. Makes it easier to check and make sure they're there. TomCat4680 (talk) 04:01, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
Well then I guess we should get to work on fishing em out. Right now I’m working on filling in citation holes on debuts and endings as best I can.--Fradio71 (talk) 04:09, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
Sources are all there but a lot of the specific dates are missing and/or haven't been announced yet. If you find newer ones that have them, put them in. TomCat4680 (talk) 04:13, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
I meant fishing the already-there sources and extracting them from the paragraphs to place them in their own sections😅--Fradio71 (talk) 04:29, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
They already have their own section. 😅 TomCat4680 (talk) 04:32, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
Not in 2017. And I believe some other years too. That’s what I’m saying we do. Bring consistency through all the years--Fradio71 (talk) 04:56, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
I was trying to be funny (e.g. the sources are shown in the references section), but I guess I failed. Anyway, the format in the newer articles is better, change the older articles instead. TomCat4680 (talk) 05:08, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

@Tvtonightokc: fix your mess

What the heck happened that over 7,000 bytes of edits are missing of new and pertinent information? How are there events missing, and what's left is back to being "Future events"? There are shows debuting this year that were added that are gone again! I can't find a way to revert the edit on mobile (and I can't get it back to a proper desktop version for more than 5 hours) so someone else is going to have to Fix it ASAP--Fradio71 (talk) 16:37, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

I reverted it. TomCat4680 (talk) 16:42, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
That was an accident. I was editing the article to reinstate an article pertaining to the network changes that took place at KWTX/KNCT that was removed as a citation in an earlier edit, despite its pertinence to the entry in question. I didn't notice that I accidentally removed content on the page; I don't know whether I hit the wrong key or something... either way, it was my bad. TVTonightOKC 18:06, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
I hope I wasn't sounding too harsh, and I do apologize if I was, I was just panicked because I couldn't bring it back on my device, so I needed to call attention to the issue--Fradio71 (talk) 18:14, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Paradise Hotel revival

Yesterday, a Paradise Hotel revival on Fox was revealed to be casting. Mental Samurai is a game show that was ordered in August and premiering in February. Would it be too farfetched to say that it will premiere in the next 356 days?--Fradio71 (talk) 21:49, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Not if you can find a source that says it will. TomCat4680 (talk) 22:18, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Extra

Look, I know Extra is a syndicated show, however all reports point to it having been syndicated exclusively to NBC stations before shifting to exclusively Fox stations starting this fall. So can it be restored to Programs changing networks?--Fradio71 (talk) 18:48, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

Sure go ahead. TomCat4680 (talk) 18:57, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

RCA/R. Kelly split

While it’s part of the fallout of the documentary, does it really belong as an event in television? It seems more an event just in the year in music--Fradio71 (talk) 02:51, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

One is the cause of the other. It's rare for a label to drop a successful artist because of a TV documentary (I don't think it's ever happened actually), so I think it's notable enough to mention here too. TomCat4680 (talk) 03:00, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
I guess…maybe you’re right. I just kinda saw it as too tangential. I’ll go revert myself--Fradio71 (talk) 03:04, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Quarter premieres

A few upcoming Nickelodeon shows have their premieres currently estimated in quarters, so I’m looking for input as to whether for example a show with a second quarter premiere set should be placed before the item with the earliest date in April or after the item with the latest date in June?--Fradio71 (talk) 05:53, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

They should be in chronological order. After June is July (summer) so put it between March and April (the beginning of spring). TomCat4680 (talk) 06:08, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. DannyS712 (talk) 07:15, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Program renames

How would something like Strahan and Sara? Completely change the GMA Day link on the 2018 page? Partition bar the new name while maintaining GMA Day as the text to display? Put the new title as a debuting program on this page?--Fradio71 (talk) 22:55, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

The second one. Links that lead to other articles (redirects) should be avoided. TomCat4680 (talk) 00:04, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Good Omens

Is it a running series or are those six parts going to be the entire thing no matter what? It's been kind of unclear but I'm considering moving it to miniseries--Fradio71 (talk) 22:50, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

under "milestones" you need to add Ben 10's 100th Episode' in between My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's 200 Episode and SpongeBob SquarePants' 20th Anniversary Episode: "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout". 67.82.238.32 (talk) 23:51, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

More Cartoon Network content

Is it okay yet too add Mighty Magiswords to the "Programs changing networks" section given it has shifted from Cartoon Network to Boomerang or add Steven Universe: The Movie to the "Television films and specials" section given it is confirmed to air on Cartoon Network in 2019? If so, thank you. 2A00:23C5:6E03:E200:B019:711A:790:5C90 (talk) 14:36, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Yes but please provide sources. TomCat4680 (talk) 01:20, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Adding Lazor Wulf'

Would it be okay to add Lazor Wulf to the "Shows debuting in 2019" section? It premiered on Adult Swim on 7th April. This is the source:[1] 2A00:23C5:6E03:E200:55B:881C:965E:2B70 (talk) 06:46, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Re-add The Amazing World of Gumball to the "Programs ending in 2019" section

The Amazing World of Gumball IS ending in 2019, Mirela63, with the sixth season being the final one. The second source that backs this up is reliable because it was written by the creator of the series, Ben Bocquelet, himself.2A00:23C5:6E03:E200:ECF4:8D1E:477F:5854 (talk) 13:41, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

As I’ve stated before, the creator and/or the cast and crew members do NOT speak for the show’s future. Cartoon Network is the one who makes the decision to end the series or not, and so far they haven’t said anything. Either wait for CN to say something (which I’m sure they will soon) or wait until a year has passed since the season six finale. Also, there’s no point in you adding this to the talk page section, you could’ve edited the main page yourself, of course, I’ve would’ve reverted it since you think that crew members of a television show speak for the show’s future. I’m pretty sure it is indeed ending but that’s not how Wikipedia works. CN could always order a brand new season of the show if they wanted too. It’s up to the network, not the creator. Wikipedia goes by network announcement, not crew announcement. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 01:42, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

But Cartoon Network did not speak for Mighty Magiswords; its creator did. Yet you trusted him, so why not do the same for Bocquelet?2A00:23C5:6E03:E200:C5A6:7262:2091:5552 (talk) 14:22, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

Unlike Ben, it was pretty clear that the last episode of Magiswords was in finale, it’s not the same for Gumball. Plus, some people who work on the show such as Richard Overall have refused to state that the show is ending. CN even contacted concerned fans that they were unable to comment on the future of the show. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 01:12, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

Add Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin - Advent of the Red Comet to "Shows debuting in 2019" section?

I was wondering if perhaps we add Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin - Advent of the Red Comet to the "Shows debuting in 2019" section given it has been recently announced it will premiere on Adult Swim through its Toonami block on July 6? This is the source:[1]

Potentially objectionable removal of entry

On June 9, 2019, a user removed an entry from #Programs ending in 2019 without providing explanation for said removal. (In this case, it would involve a link to a reliable source confirming that the show is not ending now. This user never provides edit summaries, and I have left another notice on his/her talk page.) Would anyone like to verify that this removal was correct? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 07:10, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Abuse of policy

There is no violation in the sourcing of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles move sourcing. The show posted about its own move. You can’t keep screaming “VIOLATION! VIOLATION!” without properly explaining how, considering my edits have been justified every time--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 15:04, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Read WP:SOCIALMEDIA. We can't use social media sources that don't talk about the person who's posted the source. Your edits were in good faith, but they're still a violation. We keep telling you to read WP:SM every time, but you never do, so please read it before you reply. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 18:52, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Quote the first sentence in that for example, "Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves.". Social media posts have to be about themselves, or we can't use it. Sorry, but that's how it is. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 18:54, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles posted about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That is posting about oneself. I read the section being cited, and according to it, it’s not a violation. Don’t claim it is one if you won’t bother to refute it directly--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 18:55, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
I'm going to let you post it for now, but you still need to start using secondary sources that aren't social media. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 19:04, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles did not post about anything. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are fictional. And what you have said, that is your personal interpretation of the policy. It has been detailed to you multiple times. Whether you accept it or not is up to you, but you need to gain a consensus if you disagree with its interpretation. -- /Alex/21 22:31, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Looks like it still falls under WP:SOCIALMEDIA after all. Was unsure whether it feel under that policy or not. I would revert but I'm not getting into a edit war. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 22:41, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
@Alex 21:, your reversion is inexcusable and goes against WP:SM and WP:Civility, for accusing me of the very acts you have committed. I have asked you to elaborate as to how I ever broke Wikipedia policy, and you decided to answer (paraphrased) “I don’t have to elaborate, I can just insist and discipline”. You claim I made false claims against users, but yet you continue to prove them being true. I went to the talk page. You did not. You are the edit warrer.
UPDATE: And here’s a tweet from the official, verified Nickelodeon account about Rise of the TMNT’s move to Nicktoons. Three reliable sources, zero presence on the page. Something’s not adding up. You’re more concerned about the method of delivery than the person sending the message--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 23:48, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
First off, nobody violated SOCIA MEDIA and CIVIL, no excuses, stop bending the rules to make it better for you. Second, Social media is not and I repeat NOT a realible source. Third, you can’t go off Twitter for stuff like this, you need to find another non-social media website that support these claims. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 00:51, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
I have elaborated. It's your constant refusal to accept that social media is a reliable source. Find a secondary source, then we'll talk. -- /Alex/21 02:55, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
The question here is “Why not?” Because all I’m seeing is a cling on to hope that there’d be a press release or something, when stuff like this often never gets it. And no, you still haven’t elaborated as to how a network tweeting about its own scheduling or a TV show’s official Facebook page posting about when and where it is not “about self”. And @HurricaneGeek2002:, stop pretending you didn’t tell me to “Get it through [my] thick skull”--Simmerdon3448 (talk) 13:02, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
You are assuming that their work is the same as them themselves. Gain a consensus for that. -- /Alex/21 13:06, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
Simmerdon3448, you're no longer allowed to revert on the main page, without gaining a consensus for it. And unfortunately, you aren't close to that. To use social media sources from the TMNT accounts, it has to talk about the people behind it. Not their work. And yes, I did tell you to get it through your skull, because you refuse to listen to whatever we tell you and you always keep bending the rules for yourself. Find a secondary source, then we'll add it. HurricaneGeek2002 (talk) 18:00, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Awards table

I am adding an awards table for awards given out in 2020 for 2019 television shows. Such a table exists for film pages but not television. I am conflicted on whether it belongs because a) the Primetime Emmys are not exclusive to one eligibility year, and b) awards are not exclusive to American television. However, because the awards organizations are American and the large majority of awards films are contained within a single year, I believe it is warranted. I will leave the table up for now and consider replicating it for 2020, unless there is significant disagreement on its conclusion. -Bachwiz18 (talk) 04:18, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
