Split times[edit]
There appears to be a disagreement on the format of the "Split Times" table in this article, thoughts are welcomed with a view to reaching a consensus...
Firstly this content is a new detail for these types of articles as far as I'm aware. If consensus was achieved that this was useful and appropriate content then it should be added in an appropriate format to all the relevant events at least for the 2017 World Championships in Athletics.
My rationale behind making the changes I did to the split table in this article was that it was much more likely to be deemed useful and appropriate content, and therefore kept in the long term, if it was presented in a clear and concise manner.
In the original format the table takes up a disproportionate amount of space to the value of the data. It duplicates lots of information many times ("Split time", "Position", "Cumulative time"). It mixes presents different data entities in different rows making the entire table very difficult to comprehend. It includes information not contained in the referenced source ("Last 5000 metres").
In my updated version the same information is displayed in a much more concise and proportionate manner. Unnecessary duplication is removed. Each row and column display only one data entity making the entire table much easier to read and comprehend. It removes unsourced information. It adds useful sort function to enable comparison.

- Hi Rolapib, the new table looks far superior to me. A couple of things, need to fix the sort in the distance column and to assist with accessibility, scope of headers to be assigned see WP:DTT. The first table is clumsy and do not meet our WP:MoS – Ianblair23 (talk) 08:06, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
