Jobe Watson and admissions of drug use

Jobe Watson's public admissions of drug use are clearly relevant to this page. Claims that the AFL should take action before Wikipedia is updated (eg, "wait until something official happens") is unreasonable. While the AFL may or may not have a view on the subject, Wikipedia is an independent reference point - it is not supposed to reflect the "official" view of external organisations. Indeed, see Wikipedia's own page on Asterisks: "In colloquial usage, an asterisk is used to indicate that a record is somehow tainted by circumstances, which are putatively explained in a footnote referenced by the asterisk". The source is clearly cited (by no less than THREE sources, including one hosted by the AFL's website itself!) and is clearly relevant to the issue at hand. it is not supposed to reflect the "official" view of external organisations. That's exactly what it is supposed to do. In colloquial usage, an asterisk is used to indicate that a record is somehow tainted by circumstances"Colloquial" and "somehow" sum it up. When the AFL asterisks the Medal, go nuts. At present, it's just you.
At the moment, Jobe Watson has not been stripped of his Brownlow. Wikipedia is meant to be accurate; removing him as the Winner before the AFL nix his award makes the article inaccurate. When the executioner drops his axe, Aujoz, do what you want - just make sure that the article is accurate when you finish. A screenshot of the wrong version was already put on Facebook saying we were quick off the mark... 79.65.13.100 (talk) 23:17, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Probably worth noting further information, might stave off the disgruntled for a while http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-01-12/jobe-watsons-brownlow-medal-in-limbo-until-february-meeting-afl

Glad to see my edits from 2013 were eventually incorporated into the article Aujoz (talk) 10:46, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
