Questions[edit]

in belgian politics, arent the lists divided seperately for Flanders and Wallonia? Might be of better comparative interest to list the winners per the district because it is deceptive to say party X won when X didn't compete in the other list. Especially in light of what this election can portend it is important to differentiate each list somehow. Maybe a "list of parties section as in Slovak parliamentary election, 2010 could sum up the Wallonia and Flanders parties? Lihaas (talk) 06:29, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the results could be split into francophone and Flemish parties (as in Dutch Wikipedia), would make the tables a bit unhandy though in my opinion. And the names make it quite clear which parties are francophone and which are Flemish. On the deceiption on which party won: Saying a party has one is usually nothing more than spin coming from the parties' centrals (unless it is really clear). So in this case the NVA claim they have won, the socialists may have won (with francophone and Flemish parties combined). But I agree that a list of parties, including a short description of their policies and campaing should be included, as was in Belgian general election, 2007 and in most election articles (just a list with no description wouldn't help much, I think). --Completefailure (talk) 11:24, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to Dutch elections[edit]

the far right "nationalist" parties got a bigger results in the Dutch elections this week, should it bear relevance to context here? (and on the dutch page for this elections)Lihaas (talk) 06:44, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, Geert Wilders and his score in the Dutch elections did not in any way influence the Belgian elections and/or the result of the NVA, so it would be wrong to link them. NVA won because of the problems of cohabitation between Dutch and Frenchspeakers, a topic that is nonexistent in the Netherlands. Pevernagie (talk) 13:06, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Percentages polls vs results[edit]

Maybe it should be mentioned more clearly that the percentages mentioned in the polls section are regional based, while those in the results section are nationwide. Now it seems that the polls overestimated NV-A's win, while in reality it was slightly underestimated. Especially, the first line of the results section: "After polls showed the N-VA receiving 29% of votes in their region, media interpreted the election as a "victory for Flemish independence."" is confusing if it is followed by a table containing a completely different set of percentages. 134.58.253.55 (talk) 16:11, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
