On the Uniform Design, it doesnt show anything about the #33 that is worn on the sleeve

Off-Season Summary[edit]

This is the original "Season Summary" to be used as future reference. I've replaced all of the offseason transactions now; would prefer it if someone else, perhaps the original author, would add regular season monthly blurbs.

"The Braves made their first moves by re-signing Bob Wickman to a one year deal and picking up John Smoltz's option in September 2006. Then they traded starting pitcher Horacio Ramírez to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Rafael Soriano, an American League reliever with a solid 2.20 ERA in 2006. They also denied arbitration to pitcher Chris Reitsma and second baseman Marcus Giles. Then the Braves signed utility-man Chris Woodward to fill a spot on the bench. The biggest trade in the offseason involved first baseman Adam LaRoche and a minor league player for Pittsburgh Pirates closer Mike González and a minor league infielder, Brent Lillibridge. Gonzalez, who converted 24 of 24 save opportunities in 2006, will join Soriano as set up men for Wickman in the bullpen. The team then signed first baseman Craig Wilson to a one year deal to platoon with Scott Thorman. The Braves also had solid relievers in Macay McBride, Blaine Boyer, and Tyler Yates. In addition, the majority of the Braves' offense, which was second in the NL in runs scored in 2006, returned in 2007. Their bullpen and their offense came through in the clutch early on, helping the Braves to a 7-1 start, their best start since winning the World Series in 1995. However, Mike Hampton will be sidelined for the entire 2007 season with yet another surgery. Setup-man Mike González will also be sidelined for the season while recovering from Tommy John surgery." Well, that content wasn't there when the original author first posted it. I've added all the offseason transactions within the last week. The idea to have a "Season Summary" is fine, perhaps a summary up to the All-Star break. I'm working on putting midseason statistics in right now. Abernethyj 01:36, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics tables[edit]

Will someone with more experience with wikitables than I have please adjust the widths so that the batting and pitching tables look similar? The pitching table doesn't want to seem to respond to my dimension changes. Abernethyj 15:26, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics[edit]

I had a feeling someone was going to take offense to my "unofficial" statistics...whatever. Go ahead and put Wins, Losses, and Saves up if you feel the need.

I didn't even notice this when I was editing: why are Wins, Losses, and Saves not there anywhere? I would have to say those are relatively significant statistics for pitchers, wouldn't you agree? ––Ksy92003(talk) 06:20, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many sabermetricians, such as myself, feel that Wins, Losses, and Saves do not give a accurate measure of a pitcher's ability whatsoever. If you would like me to go into the details, I will, but that's the reason I did not include them. Abernethyj 12:52, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But sabermetrics isn't something that we use in an encyclopedia. And opinion aside, you never see a pitcher's stats without seeing their win-loss record. I... it's rather obvious that the record should be included. Wins and Losses are now up. Is it proper style to have "All statistics through x" beneath the table? I thought it looked better in the key. Abernethyj 19:47, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A minor detail, but I don't think it should be up in the key. The key is mainly used for describing the abbreviations used in the tables. The "As of ---" note should be separate from the table because it doesn't describe any information in the table that may be unknown to the inexperienced baseball fan, which is the purpose of the key. ––Ksy92003(talk) 19:55, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
