Some notes[edit]

I would like to give some notes:

Apart from three season starts in the month August in the 1980ies (two in Argentinia, one in New Zealand, but only for male racers), it was the first time that a season start happened at the end of October, and that procedure still remains.

Implentation of a new order of startings: Downhill- and Super-G Racers (between the first and thirtieth place in the official FIS point list) could choose the bib number analogical of their ranking in that list; the best one could begin to choose. For racers behind the 30 the bib numbers were assigned by the ranking (31st in the ranking got the number 31 a.s.o.). After this, most top racers did choose numbers from 25 to 30 (maybe from 20 upwards). So it became in a normal way that winner numbers were between those numbers (in contrast of this, until that implantation, higher winner numbers than 15 were uncommon. - Also the procedure of bib numbers for the giant slalom and slalom did change, but only for the top 8 racers. The best racer to the eight one could choose - but (because the best racer nearly always did choose the number 1) that scheme was cancelled very soon.

I would like to say that choosing numbers in the speed disciplines was (sometimes) a gamble; before choosing the racers were informed about weather forecasts and other details of the slope (but a little risk remained always). In the technical disciplines low numbers are a "board". In regard to the speed events I would like to point out that handling of awarding bib numbers did change in several times until the season 2015/16.

The season was overshadowed by the brodie of Ulrike Maier on January 29th, 1994. 213.225.37.22 (talk) 18:50, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
