Orphaned references in 1990s in music[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 1990s in music's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "The New Blue Music":

  • From 1980s in music: Ripani, Richard J. (2006), The New Blue Music: Changes in Rhythm & Blues, 1950-1999, Univ. Press of Mississippi, pp. 130–155, 186–188, ISBN 1578068622
  • From Janet Jackson: Ripani, Richard J. (2006), The New Blue Music: Changes in Rhythm & Blues, 1950–1999, University Press of Mississippi, pp. 130–153, ISBN 1578068622

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 19:26, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Emo[edit]

Was emo music prominent in the 1990s or it was more of a 2000s trend? I wonder if bands like Third Eye Blind are considered emo back in the 1990s because they do high pitch voices and sound very '90s emo'. The Goo Goo dolls started to get the modern 2000s emo look. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.251.178.141 (talk) 21:09, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Emo article, the style only gained mainstream popularity in the early 2000s. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 02:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hip hop / Rap[edit]

If multiple people have died fighting over who is the subjective greatest rapper of this era (i.e. Biggie v. Tupac) isn't it a little presumptuous to have an encyclopedic sidebar stating conclusively that one of the two is in fact accepted as "best"? Especially anonymously and without either citation or explanation of the measurement used (such as sales, longevity, career or individual song-level statistics, copies of any one album sold, etc)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.21.141.186 (talk) 02:15, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Irish/Celtic music?[edit]

I'm surprised: Ireland experienced a "renaissance" in music of sorts with Enya, The Corrs, etc... but there is no mention of any of this and it does conflict with what is said on the Ireland wikipedia sites. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TonyMath (talkcontribs) 20:35, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
