Qualifying and Villeneuve's Death[edit]

The section as currently written is an almost verbatim copy (99%) of the section in the Gilles Villeneuve article on his death. I am removing the duplicate material and adding a link to the section in the Villeneuve article about his death. Theshowmecanuck (talk) 15:33, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jarier/Cheever[edit]

Please note that both Jarier and Cheever are said to have started 14th. If anyone has the right data, please correct that.

Cheever started 14th. Jarier started 16th. Fixed. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 22:26, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not the first drivers in F1 history to be DNPQ-ed[edit]

"This was the first ever race when some drivers took no further part after Friday, as this was the first time that any drivers failed to pre-qualify, namely Paletti and Villota." Pre-qualification has been used before, on several occations in the 1978 F1 season (USA-West, Monaco, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Italy and Canada). In the article about the 1978 United States Grand Prix West is this: "At the start of the weekend, though only 22 cars would make the grid, there were 30 entries, requiring a one-hour pre-qualifying session on Friday morning for the eight non-FICA members. From these eight, the fastest four would join the rest of the field in qualifying for one of the 22 starting spots." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sjonni86 (talkcontribs) 17:18, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
