Canberra air disaster, 19401940 Canberra air disaster — An IP-User changed the name in the lead section and wrote "Suggestion for article name that follows format of other similar articles" in the summary. Personally, i don't have a strong opinion but thought it might be worth a discussion.ospalh (talk) 09:18, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

not Gungahlin[edit]

This crash site is in the Majura district currently. Perhaps at one time it was Gungahlin, but saying it is Gungahlin is either an anachronism, or totally wrong. Using "Canberra" is better, as it was close to Canberra airport. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:50, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point, I did wonder about that when I saw the ACT's districts weren't actually created until decades after the crash. I wonder if the exact coordinates of the site are available somewhere? Ivar the Boneful (talk) 10:47, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, I see they're already there. If those are accurate then Gungahlin seems way out. Ivar the Boneful (talk) 10:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of who died[edit]

Consensus is article by article. So for this one, we want to keep the victims in the list. There are not many, and they are connected to each other, it is not undue, so it makes more sense to list them than to leave out a couple. This was not just a run of the mill crass, but one that affected notable people. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:58, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Notably, the Smolensk air disaster, which instantly came to mind as the closest example I could think of, has a full list of victims. There are plenty of sources about Thornethwaite's life and career (if independent notability possibly questionable due to WP:ONEEVENT) and it's difficult to explain the events that led to the sitting Treasurer not getting killed in the crash without mentioning Elford.
