AfC discussion[edit]

As mentioned on the user's talk page, Celi meets notability guidelines after a search, but I don't want to accept the article as there are a few typos/formatting issues, and half the article is on Riverhills Park. SportingFlyer T·C 00:14, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:SportingFlyer you are absolutely right. Here's my take: the expedition was absolutrly notable. I don't see it covered on Wikipedia. Who was the captain? How many ships? Where else did they go? I see in the Pinellas article that "Jimenez's Point of Pines" was "the name given the entrance to Tampa Bay by Spanish explorers in 1757". Is that the same expedition? I'd love to know the answers. I don't have them. I see this as a start. We have photos of the historical map and marker. We have some tidbits from existing entries which unfortunately aren't sourced but I trimmed and combined here. Let's get this thing going and see where it takes us. There are many editors far better than I am. I was just trying to get the subiect started but I'm not even sure what the title should ultimately be. I need help. The kind of help you get on an interesting and notable subject in mainspace. If it were up to me I'd have it be very short establish notability and let experts work on it. But I tried to flesh it out a bit because of demands I'm facing. This particular subjext is not in my areas of expertise but I'd like to see it kicked off. @FloridaArmy: Can you please at least clean up the reference and typo? Also, a quick newspapers.com search brought up a good article for me that can easily add another sentence which demonstrates notability - do you have access to this site? (If you don't, you can gain access if you have a Wikipedia library card.) I think that's the biggest issue here - I agree it's notable, but that's after I've done my own search on the subject, and most of the time at AfC I review articles "as they are" for notability and suitability. User:SportingFlyer did I get the typos you saw? I may have added new ones. How's it looking now for am article start? FloridaArmy (talk) 01:14, 4 June 2020 (UTC) FYI I can't get refill to format the most recent booksite I added. FloridaArmy (talk) 01:21, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@FloridaArmy: I fixed the lede sentence, but I can't accept the draft now for some reason - the script isn't working. I can decline and comment, but not accept. SportingFlyer T·C 03:34, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
