cntradiction?[edit]

At one place, the article says that the show had access to only one B-17 and it could only taxi. The next paragraph talks about the expense of flying a B-17. This seems contradictory. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 15:51, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not necessisarily. There were flying B-17s at the time, and I am sure ABC could have procured one or more, if they had the funds and wee willing to spend it. But it was easier and cheaper to use the one taxi only plane for ground shots while resorting to stock footage/actual combat footage and other "tricks"'as mentioned for aerial scenes. Music[edit]

If anyone has information about the music or composer used on this show, I think it would be interesting to add. It's clear that one of the musical themes used in the show was immortalized when it was re-used as the theme to Star Trek. I can clearly hear it, but it's not something I can add to this article without a reliable source, and I haven't a clue where to begin looking. Rklawton (talk) 17:53, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why Lansing Left The Show[edit]

I have asked for citations for the statement that Quinn Martin found Lansing difficult to work with, as I have not found any myself. If Quinn Martin mentions it in his autobiography then please add this as a citation. If indeed Lansing was difficult to work with, this would be the only reference to it I have ever heard of. Unless a citation is supplied by someone or found by me I will remove this statement. The phrase "difficult to work with" must be be taken with a pinch of salt. It must be borne in mind that studio executive Quinn Martin was primarily a businessman, only interested in making money, and as a businessman he would make decisions based on what he thought would make more money. Lansing on the other hand was a serious and very professional actor interested only in perfecting his craft, not in fame or fortune. It seems to me that Quinn Martin didn't appreciate his talent and couldn't handle his seriousness.

I have also asked for citations for the statement that "Other reported reasons were that Lansing wanted off the show because of a salary that was too low, or he did not like a possible schedule change, or because of "creative differences" ". Because there were many versions given to public at the time, some reasons may be false and others true. This is why references are required, in addition to it being standard Wikipedia policy. I have added the Mike Douglas reference in the article as a tangible citation. Jodon1971 (talk) 12:24, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jodon - my suggestion is that you just cut/reword the sections that you find questionable due to a lack of reference. Because previous versions are cached, if someone takes exception to the change AND finds a reference to back up the section you revised, they can simply add the text back in and attach the reference. Waiting for someone else to supply a ref is a losing game - I've seen pages that had questionable text flagged for years (I just revised one page that had text flagged since 2007). Be bold and just do it. Ckruschke (talk) 16:17, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]
Thanks for the advice. I see someone beat me to it in the meantime! I'll keep that in mind for future reference. Thanks again. Jodon1971 (talk) 21:57, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
