Alt text is too long and has too much detail[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Alternative text for images and Wikipedia talk:Alternative text for images. Feedback from users who read the alt text is that they do not like the alt text to be too long, nor filed with meaningless detail. Also, the standards call for a minimal amount of pointless detail. Any detail included should be related to the context of the picture. How does the fact that Britney Spears has pink knee pads in a picture relate to a larger issue? What is the meaning of where she has her hands? Are you hinting at a larger point, that where she has her hands has a sexual meaning, for instance?

Too much detail only means that screen readers will skip it altogether. Wouldn't you rather that your alt text is read? Best, Tuxedo junction (talk) 23:18, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, I don't mind as long as you take out "pretty", which i don't think its objective. Xwomanizerx (talk)
