pronunciation[edit]

nitpicky, but i believe the initial [œ] should be long or semi-long. it's the same phonetic variation found in 'öra,' although since the stress is on the last syllable the difference is not that audible in casual speech. interestingly, if it was spelled with two r's, "örrebro," it would most definitely be short, but likely the stress would shift to the first syllable (with secondary stress on the last one). k kisses 17:33, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Length[edit]

This article seems to be a lot shorter than the Swedish version (understandably). For example, the Swedish version of the article has 13 sections while the English version of the article only has 10. Likewise, in the "History" section, the Swedish version of the article has 14 paragraphs while the English version of the article only has 4, only one of which is longer than two lines. Would anyone who speaks Swedish mind translating it? Thanks.

Please be clear on figures ![edit]

Article began something like this "Örebro [œrɛˈbruː] is a city with 140 000 inhabitants, the seat of Örebro Municipality and the capital of Örebro County in Sweden.[1] It is the sixth largest city in Sweden." Very confusing - do the 140.000 live in the city, the municipality or the county ? The figure refers to the municipality, but one had to go to SWWIKI to see which. I have also moved down the City to 7th place, as SWWIKI. Here we should do better than on local Wikipedias, so please be CLEAR about figures. Boeing720 (talk) 23:59, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect etymology[edit]

The statement "Örebro literally means Penny bridge." is false. It actually comes from an older meaning of "ör" which is cognate with "ayre" (the "bridge" was once a fording place). I don't have proper sources so I'm not updating the page, but I live in the city. Link to Svenskt ortnamnslexikon is dead[edit]
