The result of the move request was: procedural close per Paine Ellsworth (talk · contribs). -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:33, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

– Why is an alternate name in the page title? The Çullu, Agdam page is a disambiguation page, which can be renamed to "Çullu, Agdam (disambiguation)" — CuriousGolden (T·C) 18:07, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. Not for anything, but something seems not quite right about all this. The two villages listed on the dab page appear to be about the same village judging by the coordinates given. They are in almost the exact same place and both are called "Çullu" (see also {{Agdam District}}). Are they the same village or are they two distinct small villages very close to each other with the same name? (If the two articles are about the same village, then this should be a MERGE discussion rather than a move request.) P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 20:35, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging Carlossuarez46 who created both articles 2 minutes apart back in 2008. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 20:53, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • This village is listed with coordinates 40°03′N 46°52′E, the other with 40°10′N 47°09′E. They are about 27 km apart. BegbertBiggs (talk) 21:00, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • To editor BegbertBiggs: that was my point: the two sets of coordinates are so close together, and yet the apparent "two villages" have the same name. They are "both" listed as "Çullu" in the navbar. Doesn't it seem a bit off to you? P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 21:12, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • My point was that 27 km is not that close. Çullu seems to be a relatively common place name in Azerbaijan (and Iranian Azerbaijan), and two nearby places having similar names isn't unheard of elsewhere either. They are also referencing separate GEOnet entries. BegbertBiggs (talk) 21:27, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • And that is a valid argument to be sure. And "sure" being the operative word, I'm just trying to figure out if we're sure or certain that there actually are two villages with the same name, or is it just one village by that name that has mistakenly found its way into Wikipedia under two different article names? I have no opinion either way, since I possess little knowledge of the land of Azerbaijan. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 07:47, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I believe this Chullu is the correct one and the other one is wrong as the other one just points to another village Quzanlı on google maps. Can be deleted, I guess. — CuriousGolden (T·C) 06:24, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • It seems that should be reversed. There is only one article on the Azerbaijan Wikipedia, Çullu (Ağdam), and the coordinates of that article correspond to the enwiki article, Çullu, Quzanlı. There is no corresponding article on azwiki for this article. Evidently, this is the article that should be deleted merged into Çullu, Quzanlı and then redirected to that article as an alternative name for the village. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 08:24, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • But there is a clearly marked Chullu village on Google Maps in this article's coordinates. — CuriousGolden (T·C) 08:27, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've checked other maps and some show a village at these coordinates while some show coordinates at the Çullu, Quzanlı coordinates, but never both villages on the same map. Can you find the Çullu, Quzanlı coordinates on the same map with the Çullu (Chullu Vtoroye), Agdam coordinates? There is also a clue on Wikidata. Here is the page that corresponds to Çullu, Quzanlı: d:Q4541637, and here is the page that corresponds to Çullu (Chullu Vtoroye), Agdam: d:Q4540641. Note that there is no article on the azwiki for the latter entry, only for the former entry on the Çullu, Quzanlı Wikidata page. Also, the azwiki dab page at Çullu lists only one "Çullu" in Agdam, not two. And that one Çullu listing corresponds with the English Wikipedia article on Çullu, Quzanlı. If the Azerbaijan Wikipedia has only one article, then it begs the question, "Why does the English Wikipedia have two articles on the same village?" • Any other name you can suggest? Because I don't think having an alternate name in the title looks that well. — CuriousGolden (T·C) 06:24, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The evidence I've found and shown above in my response to CuriousGolden makes it clear that this article is a duplicate of Çullu, Quzanlı and should be merged into that article. This move request should be procedurally closed and a page merge should follow. After the merge, this title will redirect to Çullu, Quzanlı as an alternative name for the village. New information[edit]

To editors CuriousGolden, Ortizesp, BegbertBiggs, SolaVirum and JHunterJ: continued to research this mostly because of BegbertBiggs' thoughts on the matter. Finally found a map of Azerbaijan that had both villages, both in Agdam, there on the same map at the correct coordinates for both villages. So I have reverted the merge, and hopefully all is well and as it should be. Happy holidays to all! P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 15:49, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Paine Ellsworth, I can confirm. See Çullu 1 and Çullu 2. One of the villages is closer to Agdam City, the other is far away, closer to other districts. --► Sincerely: SolaVirum 16:17, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To editor SolaVirum: yes, that is similar to what I found. And if you zoom out a bit you can see both villages on the same map. P.I. Ellsworth  ed. put'r there 19:13, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
