"Star" is a song written by Joe Egan and performed by Stealers Wheel. In 1974, it reached No.6 on the U.S. Adult Contemporary chart, No.12 on the Canadian pop chart, No.25 on the UK Singles Chart, and No.29 on the U.S. pop chart.[1] It was featured on the band's 1973 album Ferguslie Park.[2]

The song was produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.[3]

Other versions[edit]

  • John Wesley Harding released a cover of the song in 2000 (backed by the band Fastball) on a CD Christmas single for members of his fan club in 2000. This version was later included on Harding's 2018 compilation album Greatest Other People's Hits.[5]
