La tempesta (opera)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

La tempesta is an Italian-language opera by Fromental Halévy based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest which was an 1850 commission for Her Majesty's Theatre London, which required an opera in Italian, as was normal for such commissions. Eugène Scribe repurposed an existing French libretto which was translated into Italian.[1] The opera was revived at the Wexford Opera Festival in 2022.[2]
