Joyce Namirimo Tamale is a Ugandan impact and social investment specialist,[1] governance and strategic consultant, financial management professional,[2] sustainability expert and gender activist against GBV.[3] She has worked since 2003 both in the private and social sectors on the African continent.[4]
Education[edit]
Tamale has a Master of Business Administration at Eastern and Southern African Management Institute in 2007,[5] Bachelors Of Commerce at Makerere University in 1999, Doctorate in Business Administration in 2022 from Unicaribbean Business School Nigeria and is a Fellow chartered accountant of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK,[6] and a member of the Institute for Certified Public Accountants Uganda (ICPAU).
Work experience[edit]
Tamale is the founder and current chief executive officer (CEO) of Capital Solutions Ltd, a social enterprise focused on social enterprises in Africa.[7] She is also the founder of the Social Investment Fund, an impact investing fund providing inclusive financing to social enterprises in Uganda.[8]
Tamale was previously the managing director[9] Jan 2014 - Dec 2018 and director of finance and investments with the Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG )Jan 2009 - Dec 2013[5][10] Prior to her tenure at UHMG,[11] she held positions at the Eastern African Sub-Regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women (EASSI), Save the Children, and Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC).[12][13]
Board memberships and leadership[edit]
Tamale is the board chairperson of Uganda Reinsurance,[4] Board member and chairperson audit committee of KCB Uganda, chairperson of the Uganda Social Entrepreneurship Forum (SEF), and Board Treasurer of Humentum USA.[14] Additionally, she is the Chairperson Emeritus of the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE),[15] Chairperson Emeritus the Institute for Social Transformation (IST)
Awards and recognition[edit]
Tamale holds an honorary doctorate of Business Administration from the Swiss School of Business and Management in Geneva, Switzerland.[5]
