Jim Eriotes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[1]Jim Eriotes (May 30th 1923 - May 6th 2012) was an American professional minor league baseball player.[2] Eriotes was an outfielder for the 1947 Griffin Pimientos and the 1948 Miami Owls. But he is most remembered for being the 3rd oldest professional baseball player when he took the field for the Sioux Fall Canaries at the age of 83. [3]In his one at bat he swung and missed on the first 2 pitches and then fouled one off. But the next pitch he swung on and missed for a strikeout. [4]He had apparently been taking around 1,000 swings a day to prepare. The only two older professional players are Buck O'Neil (94) and Ted Radcliffe (96). Eriotes passed away in 2012 at the age of 88. [5]
