Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Personal life[edit]

He was born to Charanjit Singh Atwal at Atwal, Amritsar, Punjab.[1] He belongs to the Backward and Scheduled Caste. His father, Charanjit Atwal, served as the Deputy speaker of Lok Sabha from 2004-2009 and as the Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly twice, in 1997-2002 and 2012-2017.

Political career[edit]

Atwal was a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Kum Kalan Assembly constituency in Ludhiana district after winning 2002 Punjab Legislative Assembly election.[2][3][4] He also unsuccessfully contested from the Raikot Assembly constituency.[1] On passing of senior Congress leader and MP, Santokh Chaudhary, he unsuccessfully contested the by-election from the Jalandhar(SC) seat for Lok Sabha in 2023. He lost to AAP’s Sushil Kumar Rinku with a margin of 167,479 votes.
