Ibrahim Muhammed Dodo (born June 22, 1999), known professionally as Hunxho (pronounced "huncho")[3] is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He is signed to 300 Entertainment. Hunxho initially rose to fame with the song "Let's Get It" in 2021, which spawned a remix with fellow American rapper 21 Savage. Later that year, he released the mixtape Street Poet 2.

Early life[edit]

Ibrahim Muhammed Dodo was born on June 22, 1999, in Greensboro, North Carolina.[4] Following a move to Georgia in his adolescence, he was primarily raised in East Atlanta. In Atlanta, he would take up an interest in basketball in high school before relocating to Colorado for his college education.[5][6][7][8] Dodo recalled that while he was coming up as a rapper, he listened to Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Skooly, Future and Gucci Mane.[9] Before embarking on his career, he spent much of his time making money in the East Atlanta streets. He wrote his first song in 2017, and later moved back to Atlanta to pursue his rap career.[10]

His single "Let's Get It"[11] released as part of his project Street Poet 2, [12] would kick off Hunxho's success and would later be remixed by trap-pioneer 21 Savage.[13] Following the success of the single, Hunxho would also signed to 300 Entertainment, who would release his first project of 2022 titled Street Poetry.[14] The album would feature the "Let's Get It" remix and NoCap on the single titled "Made Me". His second project of 2022 titled "Xhosen",[15][16] as a tribute to his son was released on June 16, 2022. The project only featured singing group WanMor on the single "Heartless" with Following guest appearances on singles by prominent Georgia artists Lil PJ, Rot Ken and Lil Darius. Hunxho's first project of 2023 titled "Humble as Ever" would be released at the start of the year. The ten-song-project would feature the single "Highly Performing." Hunxho's long awaited project 22,[17] which would also be his debut album, was released on March 22, 2023. The 22-song project features Tee Grizzley, Yung Mal and Lil Poppa and would feature some of Hunxho's most prominent singles including "True To My Religion"[18] and "48 Laws Of Power".[19] The idea of "22" was first teased on Xhosen with the single titled "22". The meaning represents his East Atlanta block where he was raised, his birthday being June 22, and the year 2022, where he would be signed, acquitted of his RICO charge and celebrate the birth of his first son.

2023–present: 4 Days in LA and "IOU Tour"[edit]

Hunxho released the eight-song EP 4 Days in LA in May 2023,[20] which featured Lil Dallas and production from longtime trap producer Murda Beatz. Shortly after that release he went on tour as a supporting act on the nationwide "It's Only Us Tour"[21] headlined by Lil Baby, in promotion of his third studio album It's Only Me, joining fellow southern artists Rylo Rodriguez and GloRilla.

Legal troubles[edit]

In June 2023, Hunxho was reportedly arrested in Atlanta at the LYFE ATL Nightclub for gun possession, following a shooting at a birthday party hosted by the rapper.[22]
