Hayatullah is a citizen of Pakistan who has been reported to be a leader of the militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban.[1][2] According to Pakistan's Daily Times he was reported to have been the group's commander for the Swat valley. He was reported to have been tied to Maulvi Fazlullah. The Sindh police's Special Investigations unit reported he had been captured in a raid in Balong Goth in Orangi Town on 12 January 2010.[citation needed]
United Press International reports he works in the telecommunications sector.[3]

The accused confessed to having affiliation with the TTP as a commander for Swat, and said his accomplices Abdul Shakoor, Mehboob Ali, Abdul Waheed, Abdul Wahab, Saleem and others were hiding in different parts of the city, the officials claimed.

Karachi authorities said they arrested Hayatullah Hamyo, who they believe was a top Taliban commander using a job in the Pakistani telecommunications sector as a cover, Pakistan's Dawn newspaper reports.
