English: Bridget Brink, President Biden’s nominee to be the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, said if confirmed, she was committed to reopening the embassy in Kyiv as the security situation permits during Russia’s continued aggression in Ukraine. Her commitment to lawmakers came during her confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Lawmakers engaged with her on a number of topics, including security assistance to Ukraine, rebuilding the country, Ukrainian refugees, and food insecurity. Two other nominees, Alexander Laskaris, nominee to be the U.S. ambassador to Chad, and Elizabeth Richard, nominee to be the State Department’s counterterrorism coordinator, also appeared before the committee for their confirmation hearings.
