English: Leaders of the U.S. intelligence community testified at a House Intelligence Committee hearing on threats the country faces both internally and internationally. In her opening remarks, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines addressed Russia’s attack on Ukraine, saying President Vladimir Putin underestimated Ukrainian resolve, but that he was unlikely to be deterred. Central Intelligence Agency Director William Burns described the Russian president as “stewing in a combustible combination of grievance and ambition.” The other witnesses, Defense Intelligence Agency Director Lieutenant General Scott Berrier, National Security Agency Director Paul Nakasone, and FBI Director Christopher Wray, talked about U.S. sanctions on Russia and attempts to combat Russian cyber attacks. The group also responded to questions about the threats posed by China and Iran.
