Elijah Herring is an American football linebacker who is currently in the transfer portal. He previously played for the Tennessee Volunteers.

Early life and high school[edit]

Herring attended high school at Riverdale. In his senior season, Herring notched 77 tackles with 16 being for a loss, and five sacks.[1][2] Coming out of high school, Herring was rated as a three star recruit where he decided to commit to play college football for the Tennessee Volunteers.[3][4]

College career[edit]

In week three of the 2022 season, Herring notched three tackles and two sacks against Akron.[5] In Herring's first career season in 2023, Herring played in all 13 games tallying 11 tackles with two and a half being for a loss, and two sacks.[6] Herring made his first career start in week two of the 2023 season where he played 51 snaps making four tackles, as he helped the Volunteers to a 30-13 win over Austin Peay.[7] During the 2023 season, Herring played in 13 games making 12 starts where he notched 80 tackles with four being for a loss, and a pass deflection.[8] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Herring decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[9][10]
