Se-Jin Lee (October 20, 1958 – ) is an American biologist and professor at the University of Connecticut and at the Jackson Laboratory.

His work has had wide impact in the understanding as to how skeletal muscle mass is controlled. He discovered several proteins in the large "TGFbeta" family of cytokines, including myostatin, also known as "GDF8", Activin A, GDF11, etc.

Most of his work has employed the use of genetically modified mice. For example, mice which were made to be null for myostatin/GDF8 demonstrated almost a two-fold increase in skeletal muscle mass, which showed that myostatin is a natural inhibitor of muscle differentiation and growth.
