Oriole Cullen is a fashion historian and curator, and currently the Head of Modern Textiles and Fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Biography[edit]
Oriole Cullen was born in Dublin in 1977.[1] She studied the History of Art with English Literature at University College Dublin,[2] and later completed her MA in the History of Dress at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London history of dress at the Courtauld Institute. She then volunteered at the Museum of London for a brief period before taking a position as curator of dress and decorative arts. In 2004 Cullen curated "The London Look: Fashion from Street to Catwalk" at the Museum of London.[2]
In 2006, Cullen joined the Victoria and Albert Museum.[3] Since her appointment, Cullen has has curated exhibitions such as "Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones" in 2009[4] and "Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams" in 2019.[3] In her job she shares the museum's collection with the general public, and views her role as a curator to include taking care of the museum's collection.[5]
