Morwell Dinamo Soccer Club was a soccer club based in Traralgon, Victoria, Australia. The club was founded in 1980 and previously competed in Latrobe Valley Soccer League, mostly known locally by the name Dinamo and inspired by the legendary Croatian Football League club GNK Dinamo Zagreb.

The Club represented the vast Croatian community who lived in the Gippsland region, many of who came to work at the Yallourn Power Station, the Morwell Power Station, the Hazelwood Power Station and the Loy Yang Power Station.

Morwell Dinamo was based at the Gippsland Croatian Association's headquarters, located between the cities of Morwell and Traralgon in the Latrobe Valley and just beyond the boundary of the Latrobe Regional Airport

History[edit]

Morwell Dinamo was known to have competed for at least 11 years in the LVSL before exiting the competition in the early 1990s.

Football in the Latrobe Valley was widely considered to be only second to metropolitan Melbourne in this time, with several clubs going to compete in the metropolitan leagues, including the Morwell Falcons, who were crowned state champions in 1984 and 1989.

Morwell Dinamo was a regular competitor in the Australian-Croatian Soccer Tournament, although never claimed victory in the event.

Club Colors and Badge[edit]

The club played in jerseys inspired by the Croatia national football team.

Stadium[edit]

The club played its home matches at Gippsland Croatian Club, which had an adjacent football field.

The field is still in existence although no known football matches have taken place at the venue for some years.
