More than a game, more than life (Montenegrin: Više od igre, više od života) is a documentary film that was made by Montenegrin sports journalist Milutin Grgur.

The documentary revolves around a group of former boys who maintained their friendship during the Yugoslav Civil Wars in the 1990s. The journey of Robert Vukman and Ljubisa Maskovic revolves around a book that was saved by their friendship, and they manage to return it to those to whom it belonged.[1]

The film highlights the personal stories of resilience and camaraderie, and also the background of Yugoslav football, in particular the rivalry between Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvezda) and HNK Hajduk Split. Sports journalists such as Zdravko Reic, Edo Peci and Milojko Pantic contribute to the narrative with their insights.

The team that worked on the film consists of co-writer Silvija Glavic Grgur, cinematographers Darko and Dejan Vlahovic and editor and director Srdjan Nikolic. The Sport Club production team responded wisely and warmly to the mention of the film idea, so that with them and the support of numerous friends the realization of the film was possible.[2]

The film was broadcast on Sport Klub 1 on January 10, 12 and 17. 2023.

More than a game, more than life premiered in Montenegro and was subsequently shown in Split, Belgrade and Sarajevo. .

  • In 2023. the documentary More than a game, more than life was declared the best medium-sized film at the first international sports film festival BSAFF which took place in Budva.

Author[edit]

Milutin Grgur is a Montenegrin sports journalist, radio and television commentator for programs on all aspects of sports, from domestic football and the national team to the World Cup and the Olympic Games.He began his journalistic career as a high school student when he was a presenter on Youth radio. He is also the founder of the Youth program on Radio Nikšić. Since 1994, he has been a member of the editorial board of Television of Montenegro.[3]

More than the game, more than life is Grgur's fourth film after Parents and children - participants of the Olympic Games and One, which was made for the International Olympic Committee and Eurosport about the Montenegrin handball players, the generation that won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in London. Grgur is particularly proud of the film “Sails Through the Ages”, which was awarded a special jury prize at the International Tourism Film Festival in Croatia in competition with 188 films from 143 countries.
