Early Years

CHIEF (MAJOR) PETER OLUJINMI SHOBAYO (Rtd) the Baale of Kemta Sidipon Ojulawera and the AaroKemta of Egbaland, a true son Olasege of Ojulawera Compound of Isale Odutola Kemta, Abeokuta. Born March 29, 1940 to late Pa Peter Onigbide Shobayo. Chief Peter Olujinmi Shobayo was the only Male child of the Family. Major Shobayo hails from Ogun state Nigeria, he was born in a Family of four. He was the only son of his father.He had 3 Sisters

As a Father

He got married to Adaego Evelyn SHOBAYO nee (Okenwa) and brought to the world 6 children namely Olayinka Victor Shobayo , Olubunmi Samson Shobayo, Olatunde Samuel Shobayo, Iyabo Marian Finfang nee (Shobayo), Oluwakemi Patience Dessy Olurinola nee(Shobayo) and Olufemi Jim Peters Shobayo.

Education

Major Shobayo attended the Nigerian Military School Zaria. In 1959 (9th and 10th platoons), two Boys from Cameroon were admitted into the Boys Company namely Boy Phillip Tangi and Boy Edet Cheh.

Also with directives from the then Premier of Northern Nigeria, two Boys from the 1959 set were selected based on merit to attend the Indian Military Academy from their class 3, this Boys were Boy  LCPL Zamani Lekwot former Military Governor of Rivers and former GOC of 82 Division, who later rose to the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army, and Boy Boy LCPL Isah Ahmed who rose to the rank of Colonel.[1] Among the seven students of Nigerian Military School Zaria, Kaduna State Nigeria who won scholarship to study abroad in 1960 and also the first West African student to study at the famous Royal Medical College Milbank London SW1, He attended the Royal Army Medical Company R. A. M. C Apprentice School Crookham, in 1960[2]. After passing his University of Cambridge GCE exams in Human Biology in 1961. He also proceeded to attaining a certificate in instructions of Nursing from the St John's Ambulance, Crookham in 1961. He acquired certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist on 17th April 1973 by the Medical Laboratory Technician Board from the Council of Professions Supplementary to Medicine, York house, Westminster Road, London. where he qualified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Worked at the Pathology department of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

Work Experience

In 1966. Drafted to the Army during the civil war and was commissioned a Lieutenant in 1969 to command the Pathology laboratory 68th Armed forces Hospital Yaba Lagos and administrative officer 78th Armed forces hospital Ebute- Metta, Lagos. As cited in Nigerian Government Gazette (1976, p45) Registered as Technologist with qualifications acquired in 1964 as A.LMLL.T., Bacteriology , registered on 23-9-70 while stationed at 48 Armed Forces Hospital, Creek Hospital, Lagos.[3]

Attended regimental accounts course at the Nigerian Army school of finance Apapa Lagos. According to Nigeria Government Gazette (1972, p30) was in 1971 Promoted to rank of Captain [4] and posted to HQ field Ambulance and Military hospital Enugu as officer commanding Pathology laboratories 1971 - 1975. He was promoted to the rank of Major in 1977 as cited in Nigeria Government Gazette (1977, p13)[5] and posted to 48th Armed forces hospital Ikoyi in Lagos as Chief Medical Laboratory Scientist and hospital administrative officer 1976-1977.

Member of Nigerian Festival FESTAC 77 medical team. Posted to Nigerian Army School of Medical sciences, Ojo Lagos to establish and Head the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences in 1977. Voluntarily retired as chief instructor and head of department in 1982 and went into private practice in 1982-1986.

Gained contract appointment with the Ministry of Health in Kano to lecture at the School of Health Technology and Head of Department of Medical Laboratory

Achievements

Chairman Kosofe Local Govt association Boys scouts Lagos state from 1982-1986.

Chairman Abeokuta descendants union (ADUN) - Agege/Sango-Ota from 1982-1986.

Became Ogun state boys scout headquarter commissioner for medical duties in

1986-1987

Represented Nigeria at health seminar in Gambia as Commissioner for Medical duties in 1986.

Chairman Abeokuta descendants union (ADUN) - Kano from 1989-1992.

Membership Anglican youth fellowship Nigeria in 1992.

Membership medical auxiliary society and chairman medical committee St J

Judes Anglican church Ikija Ab in kuta. 2000.

Member of retired Army, Navy, Air force officers club (RANAO) from 2001

Became the general secretary of Okesaje community development association and then chairman from 1992-2006

Became the Baale of Kemta Ojularewa village as approved by the Alake of Egbaland Oba Oyebade Lipede1 in 2001.

Conferred with the chieftaincy title of Aaro Kemta Egbaland and appointed secretary to kemta council of chiefs in 2004.

Became the chairman of Oba Area council of Baales, Obafemi Owode local Govt in 2006

Founder, President of Shopeolu foundation for community development.

Chairman of Aina Olasege and Kemta Ojularewa descendant union Egbaland. He died in 2009 at the Age of 69 in Ogun State Nigeria.
