The Maharani of Travancore was the principal title of the female head of the Kingdom of Travancore in the southern part of Kerala, India. This position held by the senior female member of the royal family (senior Rani of Attingal) normally this position held by the sisters of the Maharajas of Travancore. The Maharani of Travancore was the topmost female head of Travancore until 1949, when Travancore was acceded into India. Since then, the Maharani of Travancore remains as a titular position.
