Corocorokuririn[edit]

Corocorokuririn (コロコロクリリン, Korokorokuririn), also known as Kururin (クリリン) [2] , is a curious golden hamster character created by the renowned Japanese company Sanrio. Despite his small stature, he possesses an inquisitive nature, although at times he can be a bit timid. His fondness for cherry blossoms is evident, and he is often seen wearing his distinctive flower hat. Kururin has a penchant for gnawing on various objects, yet he particularly relishes cookies and sunflower seeds as his preferred treats. He delights in gathering odds and ends from his surroundings to construct imaginative playhouses, demonstrating remarkable skill in squeezing into tight spaces.

Story[edit]

His birthday, which falls on February 4th, doesn't mark his actual birth but rather the day he was welcomed into his owner's home, who happens to be a human girl. It's probable that he shares this special day with Sakura, suggesting they might have been adopted together.[3]

Kuririn is in love with Sakura, and together they have seven children: Chibikuri, Komachi, Kurumi, Cherri, Shingo, Milk, and Chacha.

History[edit]

In 1997, against the backdrop of a booming popularity of hamsters, character development for Corocorokuririn commenced. This period marked the genesis of his creation, inspired by the prevailing hamster trend. Following this, merchandise sales kicked off in June 1998 under the initial name "Koro 2 Krillin," reflecting his early branding and introduction to the market.

Fast forward to 2018, a significant milestone was reached as product development efforts were reignited to coincide with Corocorokuririn's 20th anniversary. This revitalization marked a renewed commitment to the character, prompting a fresh wave of merchandise and creative endeavors to celebrate two decades of Corocorokuririn's existence.

Throughout these years, Corocorokuririn evolved from a mere concept to a beloved character, captivating audiences with his charm and endearing personality. His enduring popularity serves as a testament to the timeless appeal of his character and the creativity of his creators.

Species[edit]

Corocorokuririn is a golden hamster with white fur[4]. The golden hamster, also known as the Syrian hamster (scientific name Mesocricetus auratus), is a rodent that belongs to the hamster subfamily called Cricetinae.

Preferences[edit]

His favorites are cookies, Sunflower seeds, and cherry blossoms. The cherry blossom, also known as "sakura" . Also “Sakura” is Corocorokuririn’s girlfriend.

Hobby[edit]

One of Corocorokuririn's favorite pastimes involves collecting miscellaneous items from around the house and utilizing them to construct imaginative playhouses. He revels in the creative process of transforming everyday objects into whimsical dwellings, each with its unique charm and character. Corocorokuririn finds joy in arranging and repurposing items to fashion cozy retreats where he can let his imagination roam freely. From cardboard boxes to fabric scraps, Corocorokuririn eagerly gathers materials, turning his playhouse projects into delightful expressions of his ingenuity and creativity. This hobby not only provides Corocorokuririn with endless entertainment but also fosters his resourcefulness and problem-solving skills as he ingeniously crafts his miniature abodes.

Family and friends[edit]

Sakura(サクラ), a hamster character created by the Japanese company Sanrio, embodies a serene and amiable personality. She delights in tasty food, particularly boiled eggs, though she grapples with a bit of excess weight and is presently undergoing a dietary regimen. She shares a romantic relationship with Corocorokuririn and together, they have seven offspring: Chibikuri, Komachi, Kurumi, Cherri, Shingo, Milk, and Chacha.

Chibikuri(チビクリー), the eldest among the siblings, bears a striking resemblance to his father and often shadows him. He excels at games like hide-and-seek and derives his name from "small/short chestnut," mirroring his father's nomenclature.

Cherri(チェリー), Corocorokuririn's daughter, exhibits a fondness for cherries and is discerning about her meals. She adorns herself with a beloved pink flower.

Komachi(コマチ), another daughter of Corocorokuririn, is known for her fleet-footedness during strolls. Though resembling Milk, she can be distinguished by her rosy cheeks.

Shingo(シンゴ), Corocorokuririn's son, is characterized by his robustness and spirited nature, often found speeding on the hamster wheel.

Milk(ミルク), also Corocorokuririn's daughter, maintains a penchant for cleanliness and indulges in grooming rituals. Her prized possession is her gnawing stick, and while she resembles Komachi, she lacks the rosy cheeks.

Chacha ( チャチ), the youngest son of Corocorokuririn, exudes athleticism and fearlessness, reveling in speed and acrobatics.

Kurumi (クルミ), Corocorokuririn's daughter, possesses a spirited and tomboyish demeanor, finding joy in crafting beds from newspaper, a hobby that reflects her name, which translates to "Walnut."
