  • Comment: This draft or article is about an unreleased film. The film notability guideline identifies three stages in the production cycle for films:
*1. Planned films that have not begun production (principal photography or animation). These planned films do not satisfy film notability.
*2. Films that are confirmed by reliable sources to have begun production, but have not been released. These films are only notable if production itself satisfies general notability in terms of significant coverage. Mere mention of the start of production does not satisfy notability.
*3. Films that have been released, whose notability is determined by reception and reviews, or a major notable award for excellence in some aspect of filmmaking.
This film page must be evaluated based on general notability of production. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:25, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

Development[edit]

In November 2022, a live-action horror film based on Bambi, a Life in the Woods by Felix Salten was announced as being in development with the title Bambi: The Reckoning. Scott Jeffrey was named as director, with Rhys Frake-Waterfield serving as a producer. The project was stated to a be joint-venture production between ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions.[4] Jeffrey described the film as "an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix's The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness."[5] In February 2023, the film was additionally revealed to be set in the same continuity franchise as the previous two Blood and Honey movies.[6]

Filming[edit]

Principal photography was originally slated to commence on 31 January 2023 in London, England, with Vince Knight serving as cinematographer, after working on Blood and Honey.[7][8][2] Filming was later rescheduled to begin on 6 January 2024 in England,[3] which Jeffrey confirmed via his social media.[9][10] Filming officially wrapped on 26 January 2024.[11]

Marketing[edit]

The first official trailer debuted exclusively in theaters during the limited release of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, the second installment of The Twisted Childhood Universe, in March 2024.[12] The trailer received a wide release, debuting online on April 3, 2024.[13]

Release[edit]
