Aniket Yadav (born – 9 August 1984) is an Indian historian, writer, orator, scholar and Legal Advisor. He has completed B. Com. [1] He specialised in writing about the Maratha Navy, Indian forts and freedom fighters. [2]

Education[edit]

Mr. Yadav's primary education was at Sane Guruji Primary School in Sinhagad Road, Pune. Secondary education was done at Raosaheb Patwardhan High School, Sinhagad Road, Pune. When he was in class 10, he was forced to work as his father fell ill. But the determination to further education didn't allow him to rest. So it was necessary to work during the day and study at night. Working at Manohar Bakery, Butic Cosmetics, Sagarmit Enterprises, Nationalist Congress Party Office, Baba Enterprises etc he completed his B.Com from Poona Night High School, Bajirao Road, Pune.

Works[edit]

Mr. Yadav started additional reading while studying. From that, interest in nature, planets-stars as well as fort wandering arose. While looking at the forts, who built these forts? Built for what? With all these thoughts, he started reading books about forts. He started going to the libraries of Pune Marathi Granthalay [1], Pune Nagar Vachan Mandir (पुणे नगर वाचन मंदिर) [2], Bharat Itihas Sanshodhak Mandal etc as often as he could. And he understood the extraordinary work of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. From that, he got introduction with Babasaheb Purandare, Ninad Bedekar, Pramod Mande etc. Due to the open nature of Pramod Mande, a guru-shishya relationship was formed between them.

He organized fort tours and historical programs on behalf of Durg-srushti Sanstha.

He organized Light and Sound Shows based on the war tactics of Marathas during Diwali period at Shri Ambikamata Bhajani Mandal in Shukrawar Peth, Pune for many years. In which models of forts were made from clay and other materials and it was shown how war would have been fought at that time. So that people can experience history. A crowd of many citizens and youth used to gather to see this. [3]

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Basrur naval campaign will complete 350 years in 2015. Therefore, in Diwali of 2015, he gave his presentation based on this campaign of Shivaji Maharaj. While studying it he realized that no one had studied this naval campaign of Shivaji Maharaj and the entire Maratha Navy. Therefore he decided to work in this subject. And in the same year produced a small book on श्री शिवछत्रपतींची आरमारी मोहीम - बसरूर (Shri Shiv Chhatrapatinchi Aarmari Mohim - Basrur). And continued the same topic.

While working, reading and thinking further on this topic, Mr. Aniket Yadav realized that it was imperative to have a special day to draw attention towards the Maratha Navy. Because till then most of the special days of Shiva-charitra were celebrated on a large scale. For example, birth of Shivaji Maharaj's (Shiv-Janma), Shiv-Punyatithi, the day he killed Afzal Khan (Shiv-Pratap Din), the day Shaista Khan broke his fingers, the day he escaped from Agra, are all celebrated by peoples, is celebrated with enthusiasm. But he is the only ruler in the whole of India who raised his own navy, expanded it and defeated the European enemies. That is why Shivaji Maharaj is proudly called 'Father of Indian Navy' [4].

But, thinking of doing something to remember the work of Shivaji Maharaj's Navy, Mr. Aniket Yadav decided to 'मराठा आरमार दिन' Maratha Aarmar Din. He got that date in historical book - Bakhar. Marathas captured Kalyan and Bhiwandi on अश्विन वद्य ११, शके १५७९ i.e. 24th October 1657, the day of Vasubaras in Diwali. And further Shivaji Maharaj built a dock here which was necessary for build the Maratha Navy. And for its security, a fort called Durgadi was also built here. To keep alive the memory of this event, on the initiative of Mr. Aniket Yadav, मराठा आरमार दिन Maratha Aarmar Din was celebrated on 24th October on a grand scale.
